FLYERS HOLD OFF AVALANCHE FOR TENTH CONSECUTIVE WIN
Brayden Schenn scored the game-winning goal for the third consecutive game as the Flyers withstood a late Avalanche rally to earn their 10th consecutive victory and become the first team to put together a double-digit winning streak this season.
* The Flyers have won 10 consecutive games for the first time since their franchise record 13-game winning streak from Oct. 19 – Nov. 17, 1985 and for the fourth time in franchise history.
* Steve Mason made 26 saves to improve to 8-0-0 in his last eight starts (2.33 GAA, .926 SV%). Per Elias, Mason is the first Flyers goaltender to win eight consecutive starts since Ron Hextall was victorious in nine straight contests from Dec. 6, 1996 – Jan. 7, 1997.
PENGUINS PUSH WINNING STREAK TO SEVEN GAMES
Bryan Rust scored his first career overtime goal and defenseman Justin Schultz led the way offensively with 1-2—3 as the Penguins stretched their winning streak to seven games and their home winning streak to six games.
* Per Elias, the Penguins are the first team in NHL history to record a winning streak of at least seven games in 10 consecutive seasons.
* Matt Murray, who has been in net for five straight Pittsburgh wins, made a career-high 41 saves to improve to 12-2-0 this season (1.93 GAA, .935 SV%, 2 SO).
* Sidney Crosby recorded an assist to extend his point streak to nine games (7-7—14).

The Sharks (18-11-1, 37 points) earned their third consecutive victory and now hold sole possession of first place in the Pacific Division . . . Alex Killorn (2-1—3) and Brian Boyle (2-0—2) recorded multi-goal games to propel the Lightning to a win on the heels of a three game slide (0-2-1) and end the Flames winning streak at six games . . . The Senators honored forward Chris Neil in a pre-game ceremony for reaching 1,000 career NHL games on Saturday . . . Bruins defenseman Zdeno Chara skated in his 1,300th career NHL game and Lightning defenseman Victor Hedman (0-3—3) played his 500th career NHL game . . . Flames forward Sean Monahan (0-1—1) extended his point streak to eight games (4-6—10) . . . Sharks defenseman Brent Burns (1-1—2) extended his point streak to six games (4-3—7) . . . Bruins forward David Pastrnak (1-1—2) scored his 19th goal of the season, two back of Sidney Crosby (21) for the League lead . . . The NHL and St. Louis Blues unveiled a renovated teen lounge at the St. Louis Children’s Hospital as part of the 2017 NHL Winter Classic Legacy project.

AUSTON MATTHEWS TO FACE HOMETOWN COYOTES FOR FIRST TIME
Maple Leafs rookie Auston Matthews of Scottsdale, Arizona, will face the team he grew up idolizing when Toronto hosts the Coyotes on Thursday night. Matthews – who leads the Maple Leafs in goals (13) and points (22) – began attending Coyotes games when he was just two years old and fell in love with the sport while cheering on his favorite players: Daniel Briere and current Coyotes captain Shane Doan.
