TRIO OF TEAMS PULL AHEAD 2-0 IN RESPECTIVE SERIES
The Sharks, Capitals and Stars all posted wins to take 2-0 leads in their respective series:

* Joe Pavelski notched 1-1—2, including the opening goal less than four minutes into the first period, to help the Sharks escape Los Angeles with a 2-0 series advantage. Via Elias, teams that take a 2-0 lead on the road in a best-of-seven Stanley Cup Playoffs series hold an all-time series record of 65-18 (78.3%). The Sharks have achieved that feat on two other occasions: the 1995 CQF vs. CGY (4-3 W) and 2013 CQF vs. VAN (4-0 W).

* Braden Holtby made 41 saves, including 19 in the first period, to backstop the Capitals past the Flyers. Holtby picked up his 18th career playoff victory; he has allowed no more than one goal in 15 of those wins, including each of the last 12 dating to 2012. Overall, Holtby ranks fourth in Stanley Cup Playoffs history (minimum: 25 GP) with a 1.84 goals-against average, behind Lorne Chabot (1.54), Dave Kerr (1.74) and Patrick Lalime(1.77).

* Jamie Benn scored what stood as the winning goal to power the Stars past the Wild, despite a late Minnesota surge in the final 20 seconds of regulation. Benn has collected 12-16—28 in 28 career regular-season and playoff games vs. MIN, including at least one point in 10 straight dating to Nov. 28, 2014 (5-12—17). He also has registered at least one point in seven of his eight career postseason outings (6-3—9).
