WORKING OVERTIME
Five of Saturday’s 12 games required overtime, including four that were decided in the five-minute extra period:

* The Stars tied the game with 1:12 remaining in regulation, but Alex Pietrangelo (1-1—2) scored at 2:11 of overtime to lift the Blues into a tie – in terms of points – atop the Central Division and Western Conference. Pietrangelo registered his second career overtime goal (also Nov. 23, 2011 at PIT), while Kevin Shattenkirk (2-0—2) added his first career multi-goal game to propel St. Louis to its season-high sixth consecutive victory.

* Jack Eichel scored twice, including the winning goal with 1.0 seconds left in overtime, to help the Sabres pick up points for the sixth time in their last eight games at First Niagara Center (4-2-2). Via Elias, Eichel became the first player in franchise history to notch a goal at 4:59 of overtime and the first to achieve that feat for any team since Arizona’sOliver Ekman-Larsson on Dec. 16, 2014 vs. EDM.

* Brad Richards potted the tying goal with 31.8 seconds remaining in regulation andDarren Helm (2-0—2) scored the winner at 3:03 of overtime to propel the Red Wings to their second straight victory. Helm recorded his third multi-goal game of the season and second career overtime goal (also Jan. 20, 2011 at STL).

* John Moore scored his third overtime goal of the season – with 15.2 seconds left on the clock – to lift the Devils to their second consecutive win. Per Elias, Moore became the second defenseman in franchise history to notch three or more overtime goals in one season; Scott Niedermayer posted four in 2001-02.

* Reilly Smith scored twice in regulation and both Nick Bjugstad (0-1—1) andAleksander Barkov (1-0—1) converted in the shootout to help the Panthers extend their home point streak to seven contests (5-0-2). Smith collected his fourth multi-goal game of the season (68 GP), equaling his total from his first 203 NHL appearances.

SHARKS PREVENT LEAGUE-LEADING CAPITALS FROM CLINCHING
Tied at 2-2 after two periods, the Sharks scored three unanswered goals – including the tiebreaker by Joe Pavelski (1-1—2) – to pick up their sixth win in their last eight games and prevent the Capitals from clinching a playoff berth.

* Pavelski notched his League-leading 10th game-winning goal of the season, two more than any other player. His 10 such goals are one shy of tying the single-season franchise record, established by Jonathan Cheechoo in 2005-06.

* Joe Thornton also posted 1-1—2. He has registered at least one point in 34 of his past 39 games, pacing the NHL with 12-38—50 dating to Dec. 15.

CANUCKS CONTINUE REPUTATION AS STREAK BUSTERS
Bo Horvat collected 1-1—2, including what stood as the winning goal, to help the Canucks snap the Predators’ franchise-record point streaks at 14 games overall (9-0-5) and 13 games on the road (10-0-3).

* The Canucks have ended a pair of other notable streaks in 2015-16, halting the Canadiens’ season-opening nine-game winning streak on Oct. 27 (5-1 W) and snapping the Panthers’ franchise-record 12-game winning streak on Jan. 11 (3-2 OT W).

AROUND THE RINKS
* David Pastrnak scored twice, including the tiebreaking goal, to help the Bruins extend their overall point streak to seven games (5-0-2) and home point streak to five games (3-0-2). Pastrnak recorded his fourth career multi-goal game and second of the season (also Feb. 24 vs. PIT: 2-0—2).

* Mikael Granlund (2-0—2) notched his first career multi-goal game, including the winner, to help the Wild move back into a playoff spot and snap the Canadiens’ home point streak at eight contests (7-0-1).

* The Jets scored three unanswered goals to overcome a 2-0 deficit and halt a three-game skid (0-3-0). Adam Lowry picked up his third career game-winning goal and first since Dec. 9, 2014 at DAL (2-0—2).

* Craig Anderson turned aside all 29 shots he faced to lead the Senators to a sweep of their four-game season series with the Maple Leafs. Anderson earned his 33rd career shutout and fourth of 2015-16.
