MULTI-GOAL PERFORMANCES POWER TEAMS TO VICTORIES . . .
A trio of multi-goal performances powered teams to wins:

* Alex Galchenyuk (2-0—2) recorded his third consecutive multi-goal game (6-1—7) – and fifth in his past eight outings (11-1—12) – to help the Canadiens extend their home point streak to eight contests (7-0-1). Via Elias, Galchenyuk became the first Canadiens player to post three straight multi-goal games since Brian Savage did so Oct. 25-28, 1995 (7-1—8). He also became the first Canadiens player with five such performances over an eight-game span since Jean Beliveau Feb. 28 – March 15, 1959 (13-10—23).

* Jaromir Jagr (2-0—2) notched his 127th career multi-goal game – and fifth of the season – to help the Panthers extend their home point streak to six contests (4-0-2). Elias says that Jagr’s 127 such performances are tied for ninth place in NHL history (w/ Mike Bossy). Jagr (23-28—51) also reached the 50-point milestone for the 20th time; Elias notes that only four other players have recorded as many 50-point seasons: Ron Francis(22), Gordie Howe (22), Ray Bourque (20) and Mark Messier (20).

* Travis Zajac (2-0—2) posted his second multi-goal game of the season – also Oct. 29 at PHI (2-0—2) – and Keith Kinkaid stopped all 30 shots he faced to help the Devils pick up their second win in their past four contests. Kinkaid earned his second career shutout (36 GP), both of which have come in his last four starts – also Feb. 14 vs. LAK (28 SV).

. . . OTHERS WIN ON THE STRENGTH OF LATE GOALS
Other clubs picked up victories on the strength of late goals:

* Phil Di Giuseppe scored the winning goal at 1:30 of overtime to help the Hurricanes extend their point streak to four games (3-0-1). Elias says that Di Giuseppe, who has 5-10—15 this season (35 GP), became the first Hurricanes rookie to notch an overtime goal since Justin Faulk did so on March 6, 2012 at WSH (4-3 OT W).

* Dylan Larkin reached the 20-goal milestone and Justin Abdelkader (1-1—2) scored the tiebreaker with 4:36 remaining in regulation to help the Red Wings overcome an early 2-0 deficit. Elias notes that Larkin, 19, became the first teenager to collect 20 goals for the Red Wings since Steve Yzerman in 1984-85 (30 G).

* Connor McDavid scored the tiebreaking goal with 7:29 remaining in regulation to help the Oilers pick up their fifth win in their past seven games. McDavid, who paces all rookies with an average of 1.06 points per game (14-21—35 in 33 GP), has registered 9-14—23 in 20 contests since returning from injury.

MILESTONES & BENCHMARKS
* Jets forward Blake Wheeler played in his 600th NHL game.

STILL STREAKING
* Panthers forward Jussi Jokinen (1-1—2) extended his point streak to nine games (2-9—11), one shy of his career high established Jan. 28 – March 2, 2010 (9-4—13 in 10 GP w/ CAR).

* Senators forward Zack Smith (1-1—2) extended his point streak to a career-high seven games (5-3—8), including goals in four straight (4-1—5). He also reached the 20-goal milestone for the first time.

* Jets forward Mark Scheifele (0-1—1) extended his point streak to six games (6-3—9), matching a career high set Dec. 12-22, 2013 (3-5—8).

LOOSE PUCKS
Panthers forward Vincent Trocheck (1-3—4) matched career highs for assists and points in one game, set Oct. 10 vs. PHI (1-3—4). He also reached the 20-goal milestone for the first time . . . Senators captain Erik Karlsson (1-1—2) registered his League-leading 58th assist of the season. He also paces all defensemen with 70 points (69 GP), eight shy of his career high established in 2011-12 (19-59—78 in 81 GP) . . . Hurricanes defenseman and Boston native Noah Hanifin collected two assists in his first NHL visit to TD Garden . . . Forward Marko Dano scored his first goal with the Jets (7 GP) . . . Four of the top five teams in the Western Conference face off in a pair of games on Friday’s slate:

This marks the fourth of five matchups in 2015-16 between these clubs; Dallas has won two of the first three (DAL: 2-1-0, CHI: 1-2-0), including a 4-2 victory in their most recent contest on Feb. 11 at United Center. The teams will close their five-game set on March 22 in Chicago.
