MULTI-GOAL PERFORMANCES LIFT TEAMS TO VICTORIES
Six players registered multi-goal games to power their teams to wins on Monday:

* Patric Hornqvist posted 3-1—4, including his first career hat trick (488 GP), to propel the Penguins to an 11-2-2 record in their past 15 games at CONSOL Energy Center. Hornqvist, who also notched his first career four-point performance, has collected 9-17—26 in his last 25 outings. Marc-Andre Fleury stopped all 30 shots he faced for his fifth shutout of the season, tied for second place in the NHL (w/ Jake Allen and Martin Jones).

* Brayden Schenn potted his first career hat trick (334 GP) and Wayne Simmondsadded a pair of goals to lift the Flyers to a 5-1-1 record in their past seven games, including three straight wins. Schenn also set a career high with his 21st goal of the campaign (60 GP), surpassing his previous best of 20 in 2013-14 (82 GP). Simmonds paces the team with 23 goals this season, including six multi-goal performances.

* Andreas Athanasiou (2-0—2) notched his first career multi-goal game (18 GP) andPavel Datsyuk scored at 2:33 of overtime to lead the Red Wings to their third consecutive victory on the heels of a four-game skid (0-2-2). Datsyuk picked up his eighth career overtime goal (all w/ DET), fourth in franchise history behind a trio of Hall of Famers: Sergei Fedorov (12), Brendan Shanahan (9) and Steve Yzerman (9).

* Tyler Johnson (2-0—2) posted his first multi-goal game of the season (50 GP) to power the Lightning to their seventh straight win, their second such run of the campaign (also Jan. 8-21: 7-0-0) and one shy of the franchise record established Feb. 23 – March 6, 2004 (8-0-0). Johnson also posted his sixth game-winning goal of the season to equal a career high set in 2014-15 (77 GP) and tie Steven Stamkos for the team lead.

* Joe Pavelski registered 2-1—3, including his fifth multi-goal game of the season (62 GP), to guide the Sharks to a 7-2-2 record in their last 11 contests. Pavelski is tied for sixth place in the NHL with 29 goals in 2015-16 – one shy of his third straight 30-goal campaign. Joe Thornton and Brent Burns both added 1-2—3; Thornton paces the League with 11-32—43 in his past 32 games dating to Dec. 17.

* Stars forward Vernon Fiddler (800) and Blue Jackets captain Nick Foligno (600) both played in milestone games.

* Maple Leafs teammates Zach Hyman, Kasperi Kapanen, William Nylander and Nikita Soshnikov all made their NHL debuts. Flames forward Garnet Hathaway also played in his first career game.

LOOSE PUCKS
Forward Derek Stepan scored the tiebreaking goal – while shorthanded – with 2:48 remaining in regulation to lift the Rangers to a 10-2-1 record in their last 13 games . . . Flyers captain Claude Giroux (0-4—4) registered his third career four-assist game and first since Feb. 16, 2012 vs. BUF (0-5—5) . . . Penguins captain Sidney Crosby (0-3—3) posted his fifth three-point game of the season. He ranks ninth in the NHL with 25-34—59 overall . . . Sharks goaltender Martin Jones (21 SV) earned his 31st win of the season, tied for third place in the NHL (w/ Henrik Lundqvist and Jonathan Quick) . . . Flames forward Johnny Gaudreau (0-1—1) extended his point streak to a career-high eight games (3-9—12) . . . Blue Jackets forward Cam Atkinson and Flames forward Sean Monahan both reached the 20-goal milestone for the third time in their careers . . . The Blue Jackets signed forward Boone Jenner to a two-year contract extension . . . The Oilers signed goaltender Laurent Brossoit and defenseman Brandon Davidson to two-year contract extensions . . . ICYMI: The Department of Player Safety will have a hearing today with Bruins forward Zac Rinaldo for an illegal check to the head of Lightning forwardCedric Paquette . . . Predators forward Filip Forsberg, Lightning forward Ryan Callahanand Canadiens goaltender Mike Condon were named the NHL’s “Three Stars” for the week ending Feb. 28 . . . The Flyers inducted defenseman Jim Watson into their Hall of Fame.

STAR RIVALRIES TAKE CENTER STAGE
A pair of star rivalries – one old, one new – highlight Tuesday’s schedule:

* Alex Ovechkin and the League-leading Capitals (45-12-4, 94 points) face Sidney Crosby and the Penguins (32-21-8, 72 points) at Verizon Center in a makeup of their postponed Jan. 24 game. This marks the third of five matchups in 2015-16 between these division rivals, who currently would meet in the opening round of the Stanley Cup Playoffs. The teams have split their first two head-to-head contests, with each winning on the road: Pittsburgh on Oct. 28 at Verizon Center (3-1 W) and Washington on Dec. 14 at CONSOL Energy Center (4-1 W). The Capitals and Penguins will close their regular-season series with two more games: March 20 in Pittsburgh and April 7 in Washington.

* Connor McDavid and Jack Eichel, the top two selections from the 2015 NHL Draft, meet for the first time as professionals when the Oilers (23-34-7, 53 points) visit the Sabres (25-31-7, 57 points) at First Niagara Center. McDavid leads all rookies with an average of 1.07 points per game this season (10-19—29 in 27 GP), including 5-12—17 in 14 outings since returning from injury. Eichel ranks third among rookies with 17-24—41 overall (63 GP), including 8-19—27 in his past 31 contests. These two last faced off on Dec. 31, 2014, when McDavid and Team Canada defeated Eichel and Team USA, 5-3, en route to capturing gold at the 2015 World Junior Championship.
