AVALANCHE EDGE SHARKS IN FINAL GAME BEFORE STADIUM SERIES
The Sharks tied the game with 1:31 remaining in regulation, but Nathan MacKinnon (0-1—1) and Matt Duchene both scored in the shootout to lift the Avalanche to a win in their final outing before Saturday’s 2016 Coors Light NHL Stadium Series.

* At 32-27-4 (68 points), the Avalanche moved four points ahead of the idle Wild (27-23-10, 64 points) for the final playoff berth in the Western Conference. They also moved within one point of the idle Predators (29-21-11, 69 points) for the first Wild Card position in the conference.

* The Avalanche improved to 5-2-0 in their last seven contests on the heels of a four-game skid (0-3-1).

* Jarome Iginla supplied the tying goal early in the third period to extend his point streak to five games (3-3—6). His 607 career goals are one shy of matching Dino Ciccarelli(608) – who will play in Friday’s 2016 NHL Stadium Series Alumni Game – for 17th place in NHL history.

DUCKS KEEP ROLLING WITH SHUTOUT VICTORY AGAINST SABRES
Frederik Andersen stopped all 26 shots he faced and Sami Vatanen provided the lone goal to power the Ducks to a 13-1-1 record in their last 15 games, including six straight victories.

* At 32-19-8 (72 points), the Ducks moved within two points of the idle Kings (35-20-4, 74 points) for first place in the Pacific Division.

* The Ducks equaled their longest winning streak of the season, also accomplished during this 15-game span (Jan. 20 – Feb. 5: 6-0-0).

* Andersen recorded his fourth career shutout and first of the season. He improved 10-0-1 in his past 11 decisions (1.97 GAA, .931 SV%, 1 SO) following a 5-8-5 start to the campaign.

PASTRNAK PROPELS BRUINS UP ATLANTIC STANDINGS . . .
David Pastrnak (2-0—2) recorded his second career multi-goal game, including a successful conversion of a first-period penalty shot, to lead the Bruins to their fifth win in their past eight contests.

* At 33-22-6 (72 points), the Bruins leapfrogged the idle Red Wings (30-20-11, 71 points) for third place in the Atlantic Division, where the top four teams are separated by just four points.

* Pastrnak scored the third penalty-shot goal by the Bruins this season, a first in franchise history. The others, both by Brad Marchand: Dec. 4 at CGY and Feb. 6 vs. BUF.

* Tuukka Rask made a season-high 41 saves to improve to 8-5-1 in 14 career regular-season appearances vs. PIT (2.08 GAA, .933 SV%, 2 SO), including a 7-0-1 record in their last eight matchups.

. . . GALCHENYUK, CANADIENS INCH CLOSER TO WILD CARD SPOT
Alex Galchenyuk scored the opening and winning goals to help the Canadiens extend their point streak to three games (2-0-1) and halt the Capitals’ winning streak at four contests.

* At 29-27-5 (63 points), the Canadiens moved within five points of the Penguins (30-21-8, 68 points) – who lost in regulation – for the final Wild Card spot in the Eastern Conference.

* Galchenyuk posted his third multi-goal game of the season (61 GP; also Nov. 28 vs. NJD and Feb. 12 at BUF, both 2-0—2). He had three such performances in 193 career outings prior to 2015-16.

* ICYMI: Mike Condon (33 SV) made a spectacular behind-the-back arm save in the second period.

MILESTONES & BENCHMARKS
* Capitals defenseman Brooks Orpik (800) and Sabres goaltender Robin Lehner (100) both played in milestone games.

LOOSE PUCKS
The Capitals suffered their third loss at Verizon Center since Nov. 21 (17-2-1) . . . Ducks captain Ryan Getzlaf (0-1—1) extended his point streak to nine games (4-10—14), the longest active such run in the NHL . . . Avalanche forward Shawn Matthias and Sharks forward Nick Spaling both scored in their team debuts . . . Bruins forward Brad Marchand recorded his 31st goal of the season, tied for fourth place in the NHL (w/ Tyler Seguin) . . . Sharks defenseman Brent Burns reached the 20-goal milestone for the second time in his career (also 2013-14: 22). His 20 goals pace all defensemen this season, while his 51 points are tied for second among blueliners (w/ John Klingberg) . . . The Department of Player Safety suspended Blues forward Ryan Reaves for three games for boarding Sharks defenseman Matt Tennyson . . . The Canucks acquired defensemanPhilip Larsen from the Oilers in exchange for a conditional fifth-round selection in the 2017 NHL Draft . . . Defenseman Scott Hannan formally announced his retirement following a 16-season NHL career . . . ICYMI: The NHL teased the jerseys that Team Europe, Team Finland and Team North America will wear for the World Cup of Hockey 2016.

PREDATORS TRY TO EXTEND STREAKS AGAINST BLACKHAWKS
The Predators (29-21-11, 69 points), who have registered points in seven consecutive games overall (4-0-3) as well as a franchise-record nine straight as visitors (7-0-2), try to extend those streaks when they visit the Blackhawks (38-19-5, 81 points) at United Center. This marks the fifth and final meeting of the season between the division rivals; Chicago has won three of the opening four (NSH: 1-3-0) after defeating Nashville in six games in the First Round of the 2015 Stanley Cup Playoffs. Overall, the Predators are clinging to a one-point lead for the first Wild Card position in the Western Conference. The Blackhawks sit in second place in the Central Division and conference, one point behind the Stars (38-17-6, 82 points).
