LIGHTNING EDGE RED WINGS, MOVE AHEAD IN ATLANTIC
Ben Bishop made 24 saves to lead the Lightning to their ninth victory in their past 10 games overall as well as their seventh straight win at home.

* At 28-18-4 (60 points), the Lightning moved two points ahead of the Red Wings (25-17-8, 58 points) and idle Bruins (26-18-6-, 58 points) for second place in the Atlantic Division. They also climbed within five points of the idle Panthers (30-15-5, 65 points) for first place.

* The Lightning’s seven-game home winning streak is three shy of equaling the franchise record, set last season (Dec. 11, 2014 – Jan. 31, 2015: 10-0-0). Tampa Bay boasts a 16-8-2 record at Amalie Arena in 2015-16; their 34 home points share seventh place in the NHL.

* Bishop reached the 20-win milestone for the third time in his career – and third consecutive season. He ranks second in the NHL with a 1.99 goals-against average and 10th with a .927 save percentage.

* Bishop also became the first goaltender in Lightning history to record 100 victories with the team (100-45-16, 2.24 GAA, .921 SV%, 12 SO). Nikolai Khabibulin ranks second with 83.

MONAHAN’S CAREER NIGHT PROPELS FLAMES PAST HURRICANES
Sean Monahan (1-3—4) set career highs for assists and points in one contest to help the Flames snap a three-game skid (0-3-0).

* At 22-24-3 (47 points), the Flames moved within six points of the idle Ducks (23-18-7, 53 points) for third place in the Pacific Division.

* Monahan, who shares second place on the Flames with 15-18—33 overall, posted his fifth multi-point game of the season – and first since Dec. 10 vs. BUF (2-1—3).

* Four other Flames players also registered multiple points: Johnny Gaudreau (1-1—2),Mark Giordano (1-1—2), Dougie Hamilton (1-1—2) and Jiri Hudler (0-2—2).

SABRES MOUNT ANOTHER THIRD-PERIOD COMEBACK
Down 2-1 after 40 minutes, the Sabres scored three unanswered goals in the third period – including the tiebreaker by Johan Larsson with 8:14 remaining in regulation – to pick up their second straight win and improve to 5-2-0 in their last seven road games.

* Per Elias, the Sabres won a road game when trailing during the third period for the fourth time this season – all in regulation. The other instances: Nov. 1 at NYI, Dec. 14 at DET and Dec. 26 at BOS.

* Larsson recorded his second career game-winning goal (116 GP), both this season. The other also came during a third-period comeback victory on the road, on Dec. 14 at DET (w/ 3:13 remaining in regulation).

MILESTONES & BENCHMARKS
* Captain Mark Giordano (1-1—2), who has spent his entire NHL career with the Flames, became the fourth defenseman in franchise history to record 200 assists. The others: Al MacInnis (609), Gary Suter (436) and Paul Reinhart (336).

LOOSE PUCKS
MUST-SEE: Canadiens forward Alex Galchenyuk scored a highlight-reel goal to give the team the lead in the second period . . . The Flames won their seventh consecutive homegame against the Hurricanes dating to Dec. 11, 2003 (CAR: 0-6-1) . . . Lightning forwardNikita Kucherov posted 1-1—2, giving him 7-6—13 over his last 10 outings . . . Sabres goaltender Robin Lehner stopped 33 shots, including all 14 he faced in the third period, to pick up his second win of the campaign (2-3-0, 2.22 GAA, .938 SV%) . . . The NHL suspended Flames defenseman Dennis Wideman for 20 games for conduct violative of Rule 40 (Physical Abuse of Officials) . . . The NHL, Avalanche and Red Wings releasedadditional participants for the 2016 NHL Stadium Series Alumni Game on Friday, Feb. 26, at Coors Field . . . Team Czech Republic announced its management team for the World Cup of Hockey 2016 . . . DIVISION RIVALS FACE OFF ON NATIONAL DOUBLEHEADERS
A pair of division rivals meet during national doubleheaders in both the U.S. and Canada:

* First, the League-leading Capitals (35-9-4, 74 points) face the Islanders (26-16-6, 58 points) at Verizon Center in the second of four matchups this season (NBCSN, SN360). Washington won the first meeting between these clubs, 4-1 on Jan. 7 at Barclays Center, following their seven-game victory in the opening round of the 2015 Stanley Cup Playoffs. Overall, the Capitals are coming off a 5-2 loss to the Panthers – their first regulation loss at home since Nov. 19 vs. DAL – while the Islanders defeated the Wild, 5-3, in their first game following the All-Star break.

* The Pacific Division-leading Kings (31-16-3, 65 points) then play host to the rival Ducks (23-18-7, 53 points) at STAPLES Center in the second of five matchups this season (NBCSN, SN). Los Angeles won the first meeting between these clubs, 3-2 on Jan. 17 at Honda Center, behind 1-1—2 from Anze Kopitar and 30 saves from Jonathan Quick. Overall, the Kings have won two of their last three outings – including a 6-2 triumph over the Coyotes on Tuesday – while the Ducks have reeled off four consecutive victories to climb into third place in the division.
