PENGUINS, RANGERS EXTEND STREAKS WITH ROAD WINS
A pair of Metropolitan Division clubs – the Penguins and Rangers – extended their respective streaks with wins as visitors:

* Phil Kessel scored the tiebreaking goal with 10:15 remaining in regulation to power the Penguins to their sixth consecutive victory and ninth win in their past 10 outings following a 0-3-0 start to the season. Each of Kessel’s past three goals has stood as the decisive tally, also Oct. 24 at NSH (OT) and Oct. 28 at WSH. With the victory, the Penguins improved to 8-0-2 in their last 10 meetings with the Oilers dating to Dec. 5, 2007 (EDM: 2-8-0).

* Derek Stepan and Oscar Lindberg scored 21 seconds apart to help the Rangers overcome a 1-0 deficit and extend their point streak to eight games (6-0-2), including four consecutive wins. Lindberg registered his seventh goal of the season, tops among rookies; the Rangers improved to 6-0-0 when he scores and 6-0-2 when he collects at least one point.

GETZLAF’S RETURN HELPS DUCKS STRETCH WINNING STREAK
Making his return from an appendectomy, Ryan Getzlaf collected three assists to lead the Ducks to their third consecutive victory overall – as well as their fourth straight win at Honda Center following a 0-2-1 start at home.

* Getzlaf, who had 0-1—1 in his first eight appearances of the season, registered his first three-assist/point game since Dec. 7, 2014 at WPG (0-3—3).

* Corey Perry also picked up three assists, his first such performance since Dec. 21, 2013 at NYI (0-3—3).

* Via Elias, the Ducks improved to 14-3-0 all-time when both Getzlaf and Perry register three or more points in the same game.

MORE FROM LAST NIGHT
* Dion Phaneuf tied the game with 1:02 remaining in regulation, but Jakub Kindl scored2:17 into overtime to propel the Red Wings past the Maple Leafs in the Hockey Hall of Fame Game. Kindl registered his third career game-winning goal (260 GP) and first in overtime. The others came one month apart during the 2012-13 season: Feb. 7 at STL and March 7 vs. EDM.

* The Devils scored four consecutive goals, including three in the opening period, to defeat the Blackhawks and improve to 7-2-1 in their last 10 contests following a 0-3-0 start to the season. Three players – Kyle Palmieri, Lee Stempniak and Travis Zajac – posted 1-1—2, while Cory Schneider made 27 saves in his 10th consecutive start.

MILESTONES & BENCHMARKS
* Red Wings captain Henrik Zetterberg registered his 300th NHL goal (all w/ DET). Zetterberg (300-501—801) became the eighth player in franchise history to score 300 goals as well as the fifth player in Red Wings history to collect 300 goals, 500 assists and 800 points with the club. The others: Gordie Howe (786-1,023—1,809), Steve Yzerman(692-1,063—1,755), Alex Delvecchio (456-825—1,281) and Sergei Fedorov (400-554—954).

* Stars forward Radek Faksa, the 13th overall selection in the 2012 NHL Draft, scored his first NHL goal (10 GP). Blackhawks forward Tanner Kero (5 GP) and Ducks defenseman Josh Manson (33 GP) also recorded their first NHL goals.

* Rangers goaltender Henrik Lundqvist made his 742nd NHL appearance (regular season and playoffs, all w/ NYR). That ties Mike Richter (also w/ NYR) for the most combined regular-season and playoff appearances by an NHL goaltender who only played for one team. It also equals Richter’s franchise record for the most appearances by a goaltender.

* Penguins forward Evgeni Malkin (600) and Oilers defenseman Andrej Sekera (500) both played in milestone games.

LOOSE PUCKS
Blackhawks forward Patrick Kane scored to extend his point streak to nine games (6-7—13), five shy of his career high set Nov. 30 – Dec. 28, 2013 (8-17—25 in 14 GP). Kane shares second in the NHL with nine goals and ranks third with 19 points in 14 outings this season . . . Blue Jackets forward Scott Hartnell (2-0—2) recorded his 38th career multi-goal game and first of the season . . . Maple Leafs captain Dion Phaneuf snapped a 33-game drought with his first goal since Feb. 26 vs. PHI . . . ICYMI: The Blues signed forward Martin Havlat to a one-year contract.

SIX GAMES DOT NATIONAL BROADCAST SCHEDULE
Six national broadcasts highlight Saturday’s schedule, including five on Hockey Night in Canada: goaltender Ryan Miller returns to Buffalo for the first time when the Canucks visit the Sabres in a matinee at First Niagara Center; the Bruins and Canadiens face off at Bell Centre, their second meeting of the season in advance of the 2016 Bridgestone NHL Winter Classic; the Maple Leafs travel to Verizon Center to play the Capitals, who have equaled their best 12-game start in franchise history (9-3-0, 18 points); the Senators and Hurricanes drop the puck at PNC Arena in the first of three meetings in 2015-16; the Flyers make their lone trip of the season to Winnipeg to face the Jets at MTS Centre; and the Penguins, winners of six in a row and nine of their past 10, complete the second half of their back-to-back games in Alberta when they take on the Flames at Scotiabank Saddledome.

MILLER RETURNS TO BUFFALO . . .
Longtime Sabres goaltender Ryan Miller returns to Buffalo for the first time when the Canucks visit the Sabres at First Niagara Center. Miller, a fifth-round pick (138th overall) by Buffalo in the 1999 NHL Draft, posted a franchise-record 284 wins in 540 regular-season appearances with the club (2.60 GAA, .916 SV%, 28 SO) before a February 2014 trade to St. Louis (and then signing with Vancouver). He also backstopped the Sabres to consecutive trips to the Eastern Conference Final (2006-07), earning 25 wins in 47 playoff outings with the team (2.46 GAA, .917 SV%, 3 SO). Miller has faced Buffalo once since his departure last year, making 20 saves in a 5-2 Vancouver win on Jan. 30 at Rogers Arena.

“I’ve been away a lot longer than I thought I’d be, just last year getting interrupted by injury,” Miller told NHL.com. “I thought I’d be back sooner, so it’s a little delayed, but it’s still a little bit emotional. But it is fun. It’s fun to see how things have changed. Maybe staying away is little bit of a shock to the system, to come down here and see so much has changed. I’m really excited for the city in that regard. There’s some really nice things happening. People seem to be responding really well to that. I’m hearing lots of good things. It’s nice to come back here and know everything’s going well.”

. . . JACKMAN FACES BLUES FOR FIRST TIME
Defenseman Barret Jackman faces his former team for the first time when the Predators welcome the Blues to Bridgestone Arena. Jackman, the 17th overall selection by St. Louis in the 1999 NHL Draft, played his first 13 seasons with the Blues, totaling 28-153—181 in 803 outings prior to signing with the Predators as a free agent. He also won the Calder Memorial Trophy with St. Louis in 2002-03 and served as an alternate captain for the club for the past nine seasons.

“I’ve already gotten text messages from a bunch of them saying they’re looking forward to it and we’ll say hi, but I’ll try and run them through the boards and play them tough,” Jackman quipped to Predators.NHL.com. “I think it’s going to be exciting. I’ve played these guys hard in practice for many years and the way my game is, it’s not going to change at all. Just the history that I have with a lot of the guys in that locker room, it’s going to be exciting to play against them and size myself up in a game against them.”
