TOEWS (AGAIN) LEADS BLACKHAWKS INTO STANLEY CUP FINAL
The Blackhawks raced to a 4-0 lead midway through the second period – sparked by a pair of goals from Jonathan Toews in the opening 11:55 – and held off a late Ducks surge to win Game 7 and advance to the Stanley Cup Final.

* The Blackhawks advanced to the Stanley Cup Final for the 13th time in franchise history and third time in the past six seasons (also 2010 and 2013).

* Via Elias, the Blackhawks became the third team in the past 24 years to reach the Stanley Cup Final at least three times in a six-year span – the Red Wings did so on two occasions (in 1995, 1997 and 1998 AND 1997, 1998 and 2002) and the Devils did so in 2000, 2001 and 2003.

* The Blackhawks improved to 7-6 in 13 all-time Game 7s, including a 2-3 record on the road. Their only other such win as visitors was during the 1965 Semifinals at DET (4-2 W).

* The Blackhawks also improved to 11-4 in their last 15 games when facing elimination (since the start of the 2009 Stanley Cup Playoffs).

* The Blackhawks won a series in which they trailed 3-2 for the third time in franchise history and second time in the past three years (also 2013 CSF vs. DET). The only other such instance was in the 1965 Semifinals, also vs. DET.

* The Blackhawks registered five goals for the third time in their past four outings and second consecutive game (also Game 6: 5-2 W). Elias says they became the seventh team in NHL history to win Games 6 and 7 of a playoff series while scoring five or more goals in each contest, but just the second club to achieve that feat after the opening round. The other: the Kings, who posted 5-4 wins in Game 6 (in OT) and 7 of the 1993 Campbell Conference Final vs. TOR.

* The Blackhawks last recorded five or more goals in three games of a playoff series during the 2010 Western Conference Semifinals vs. VAN, in Games 3 (5-2 W), 4 (7-4 W) and 6 (5-1 W).

* The Blackhawks improved to 32-0-0 when leading after two periods this season (regular season and playoffs), including a 7-0 record during the postseason. They are the only team that has not suffered a loss of any kind in that scenario in 2014-15.

* The team that scored first won all seven games of the Western Conference Final. The Blackhawks improved to 9-1 overall in that scenario during the playoffs; their nine such wins are tied for first in the NHL with their Stanley Cup Final opponent, the Lightning (9-0).

INSIDE THE NUMBERS: TOEWS AND KANE
Jonathan Toews (2-0—2) and Patrick Kane (0-3—3) combined for 2-3—5 in Game 7 and 8-6—14 during the Western Conference Final (Toews: 5-2—7, Kane: 3-4—7).

* Via Elias, Toews became the third player in NHL history to score two first-period goals for the road team in a Game 7. The others to do so: Maple Leafs forward David Keon(1964 SF at MTL) and Kings forward Ted Irvine (1969 QF at OAK).

* Toews registered his seventh career multi-goal playoff game and second in the past two trips to Honda Center. He scored twice in the final two minutes of Game 5 to force overtime (an eventual 5-4 OT L).

* Per Elias, Toews became the first player in NHL history to collect multiple goals on the road in Games 5 and 7 of a playoff series. Canucks forward Pavel Bure was the last player to accomplish that feat in a single postseason, doing so in 1994 (Game 7 of CQF at CGY and Game 5 of F at NYR).

* Elias adds that Toews became the first Blackhawks player to score four straight team goals on the road in the playoffs since Bobby Hull did so in the 1963 Semifinals at DET (lone goal in Game 5 and first three goals in Game 7). The last player to do so for any team was Joffrey Lupul, who notched all four goals for the Ducks in Game 3 of the 2006 Western Conference Semifinals at COL (4-3 OT W).

* Via Sportsnet Stats, only Kane (8) has more multi-goal playoff performances than Toews since the duo made their postseason debuts in 2009.

* Overall, Toews shares fifth in the NHL with 9-9—18 this postseason (17 GP). His nine goals equal a playoff career high, set in 19 games last year.

* Elias notes that Kane became the third player in the NHL’s expansion era (since 1967-68) to record three assists in Game 7 of the Semifinals/Conference Finals. The others to do so: Bruins forward Jean Ratelle (1979 SF at MTL) and Maple Leafs forwardDoug Gilmour (1993 CF vs. LAK) – though both of those players lost their respective games.

* Kane has registered multiple points in each of the last five games in which the Blackhawks have faced elimination (dating to Game 5 of the 2014 CF vs. LAK). A full breakdown:

Patrick Kane, Last 5 GP w/ CHI Facing Elimination
May 28, 2014 (Game 5 of CF vs. LAK): 0-4—4
May 30, 2014 (Game 6 of CF at LAK): 2-1—3
June 1, 2014 (Game 7 of CF vs. LAK): 0-2—2
May 27, 2015 (Game 6 of CF vs. ANA): 1-1—2
May 30, 2015 (Game 7 of CF at ANA): 0-3—3

* Both Kane and Toews are 11-4 in 15 career games with the Blackhawks facing elimination (since the start of the 2009 Stanley Cup Playoffs). Elias says that Kane has 5-15—20 in those contests, while Toews has 6-5—11. Kane’s 20 points in elimination games are the second-most in the NHL in that span, behind Red Wings captain Henrik Zetterberg (7-14—21 in 15 GP).

* Kane now has 47-64—111 in his playoff career (all w/ CHI, 110 GP). His 111 postseason points are tied for fourth in Blackhawks history (w/ Steve Larmer: 45-66—111 in 107 GP).

* Overall, Kane leads the Blackhawks and is tied for second in the NHL in goals (10) and points (20) this postseason (17 GP). The only player with higher totals in both categories is Kane’s Stanley Cup Final opponent, Lightning forward Tyler Johnson(12-9—21 in 20 GP).

RICHARDS CONTINUES FLAWLESS PERFORMANCE IN GAME 7s
Brad Richards collected two assists to improve to 8-0 in eight career Game 7 appearances (2 w/ TBL, 5 w/ NYR, 1 w/ CHI).

* Richards tied an NHL record for career Game 7 wins; Glenn Anderson and Ray Bourque are the only other players with eight such victories. Richards has 2-5—7 in his eight career Game 7 appearances.

* Richards also became the first player in NHL history to win eight consecutive Game 7s (at any point in a career). The only other players with seven straight Game 7 victories are Red Kelly (7-0 in his career) and former Rangers teammate and Stanley Cup Final opponent Anton Stralman (7-0 in his career).

With 49-91—140 in his playoff career (188 GP), Hossa moved past Jacques Lemaire (61-78—139 in 145 GP) and into sole possession of 34th place in NHL history.
