SENATORS OVERCOME THREE-GOAL DEFICIT, STUN PENGUINS IN OT . . .
Down 3-0 after the first period, the Senators scored four unanswered goals – including the tying marker by Mike Hoffman with 1:48 remaining in regulation and the winning strike by Mark Stone at 2:43 of overtime – to improve to 4-0-1 in their last five outings.

<

* At 41-26-13 (95 points), the Senators tied the idle Bruins (41-25-13, 95 points) – in terms of points – for the final Wild Card spot in the Eastern Conference. Boston, however, holds one game in hand and owns the ROW tiebreaker (BOS: 37, OTT: 35). The Senators close their regular season with a pair of road games – on Thursday at NYR and Saturday at PHI.

* Per Elias, the Senators overcame a 3-0 deficit to win for the second time this season – also on Dec. 7 vs. VAN. In that game, Mika Zibanejad posted 2-2—4 and Erik Karlsson scored the winning goal at 1:21 of overtime to lift the Senators to a 4-3 victory.

* Stone, who also scored 34 seconds into the third period, recorded his first career multi-goal game and sixth game-winning marker – tied for first among rookies. He also is tied for second among rookies with 24-37—61 overall this season, including 6-4—10 during a seven-game point streak.

* Stone’s seven-game point streak is tied for the longest by any rookie in Senators history, a feat he also achieved earlier this season (Jan. 8-21: 2-6—8). Elias says the last time a rookie posted multiple point streaks of at least seven games was in 2005-06, when both Brad Boyes and Alex Ovechkin did so.

* Stone notched his second overtime goal of the season (also March 17 at CAR), becoming the first rookie in Senators history to achieve that feat. Only Alexei Yashin(30-49—79 in 1993-94) has registered more points for the Senators as a rookie.

* “It’s a credit to the guys in this locker room. Nobody gives up. Every night, we’re finding ways to just keep battling,” said Stone. “After the first period, we were down three goals, but there was still 40 minutes left, still a ton of hockey. Once [Jean-Gabriel Pageau] got us on the board with a little bit of a lucky bounce, it really sparked us and gave us some [comfort].”

* Hoffman padded his lead among rookies with his 27th goal of the season. Yashin also holds the franchise record for goals by a rookie (set in 1993-94: 30).

* Andrew Hammond made 25 saves to improve to 18-1-2 with a 1.91 goals-against average, .937 save percentage and two shutouts in 22 appearances this season.

* Pageau added his second career shorthanded goal, while Zibanejad (0-1—1) registered his 100th NHL point. Clarke MacArthur also posted one assist to stretch his point streak to five games (2-4—6).

. . . RED WINGS ALSO RALLY TO MOVE AHEAD IN ATLANTIC
Behind 2-1 after two periods, the Red Wings scored a pair of unanswered goals in the final 20 minutes – including the tiebreaker by Pavel Datsyuk with 8:35 remaining in regulation – to improve to 8-2-0 in their last 10 meetings with the Hurricanes dating to Dec. 9, 2007.

* At 42-25-13 (97 points), the Red Wings leapfrogged the idle Bruins (41-25-13, 95 points) for third place in the Atlantic Division, where two points separate teams No. 3-5.

* Datsyuk recorded his 50th career game-winning goal (and fifth this season). His 25 overall goals (62 GP) are his most in one campaign since scoring 27 in 2009-10 (80 GP).

* Datsyuk also collected the primary assist on the tying goal early in the third period. He ranks second on the Red Wings with 25-38—63 despite missing 18 games this season.

* Henrik Zetterberg (1-1—2) snapped an 11-game drought with his first goal since March 15 at PIT. He paces the team with 17-47—64 (76 GP), one point ahead of Datsyuk while playing in 14 more games.

* Gustav Nyquist scored his 27th goal of the season, one shy of the team lead (held byTomas Tatar) and one off his rookie total from 2013-14. Jimmy Howard made 30 saves to pick up his 23rd win of the season.

WILD EXTEND ROAD STREAK, CLINCH THIRD STRAIGHT PLAYOFF BERTH
Devan Dubnyk made 32 saves, including 15 in the second period, to lead the Wild to their franchise-record 11th consecutive road victory, helping the team clinch its third straight playoff berth and sixth in club history.

* At 45-27-8 (98 points), the Wild remained two points ahead of the Jets (42-26-12, 96 points) – who also won on Tuesday – for the first Wild Card spot in the Western Conference. They also pulled within four points of the Blackhawks (48-26-6, 102 points) for third place in the Central Division. Both clubs have two games remaining, but Minnesota owns the ROW tiebreaker (MIN: 41, CHI: 39).

* The Wild set a franchise record with their 45th win of the season, breaking the mark established in 2007-08 (44-28-10). Their 23 road victories (23-14-2) also are a club record.

* Per Elias, the Wild’s 11-game road winning streak is one shy of the single-season NHL record set by the Red Wings in 2005-06. Minnesota closes its regular season with a pair of road contests – on Thursday at NSH and Saturday at STL.

* Elias also says the Wild are the third team in the last 80 years to allow no more than two goals in 11 consecutive road games (of one season). The others: the 1998-99 Stars (18 straight) and 2001-02 Kings (12 straight).

* The Wild, who were eight points outside the playoff picture before Dubnyk made his team debut on Jan. 15, have posted a 27-8-3 record in their 38 games since.

* Dubnyk has started all 38 of those contests, going 27-8-2 with a 1.73 goals-against average, .938 save percentage and five shutouts. That includes a 15-1-1 record on the road (1.42 GAA, .953 SV%, 3 SO).

* Mikael Granlund and Jason Zucker scored less than four minutes apart to snap a 0-0 deadlock in the third period. Zucker, who was making his first appearance since Feb. 9, posted his fourth career game-winning goal (and third of the season).

* The Wild closed their season series against the Blackhawks with a 2-3-0 record (CHI: 3-2-0), including two straight victories.

RANGERS SWEEP DEVILS TO WRAP UP PRESIDENTS’ TROPHY
Kevin Hayes registered 1-2—3 to power the Rangers to their fifth consecutive victory overall and a sweep of their four-game season series with the Devils, helping the team clinch its third Presidents’ Trophy in franchise history (also 1991-92 and 1993-94) and home-ice advantage throughout the playoffs.

* At 52-21-7 (111 points), the Rangers tied a franchise record for wins set in 1993-94 (52-24-8, 112 points). Their 111 points are one shy of the club mark, also set in 1993-94 when the team won its fourth and most recent Stanley Cup.

* The Rangers also extended franchise records with their 27th road win and 55th and 56th road points of the season (27-11-2) – both tops in the NHL.

* Overall, the Rangers clinched the top record in the League standings for the fourth time in franchise history (also 1941-42). The Presidents’ Trophy was first awarded in 1985-86; only one other team has won it at least three times (DET: 6x).

* Hayes posted his second career three-point performance (also Feb. 12 at COL: 1-2—3). He ranks fifth among rookies with 16-27—43 this season, including 3-8—11 in his last 11 outings.

* Carl Hagelin (1-1—2), Ryan McDonagh and James Sheppard supplied the other goals. Sheppard recorded his fourth career game-winning goal and first since March 25, 2013 at ANA (w/ SJS).

* Cam Talbot made 19 saves to improve to 21-9-4 this season (2.21 GAA, .926 SV%, 5 SO). That includes a 9-3-1 record in his last 13 appearances (1.83 GAA, .946 SV%, 1 SO).

* The Rangers have won six consecutive meetings with the Devils dating to the 2014 Coors Light NHL Stadium Series at Yankee Stadium (Jan. 26). They swept their season series for the second time in franchise history (also 1993-94: 6-0-0).

DID YOU KNOW?
Rangers bench boss Alain Vigneault became the second head coach in NHL history to win the Presidents’ Trophy three times, joining Scotty Bowman (4).

He also became the fourth head coach to win the Presidents’ Trophy with two different teams (also VAN in 2010-11 and 2011-12). The others: Bowman (PIT and DET), Mike Keenan (CHI and NYR) and Joel Quenneville (STL and CHI).

PAVELEC (AGAIN) FLAWLESS IN JETS’ VICTORY
Ondrej Pavelec stopped all 30 shots he faced to record his second shutout in as many days (also Monday at MIN: 32 SV) and lead the Jets to their third consecutive victory.

* At 42-26-12 (96 points), the Jets moved three points ahead of the Kings (39-26-15, 93 points) – who lost in regulation – for the final Wild Card spot in the Western Conference. Both teams have two games remaining; Los Angeles owns the ROW tiebreaker (LAK: 37, WPG: 35).

* The Jets’ 42 victories and 96 points are one shy of the franchise records, set in 2006-07 when the club made its first and only playoff appearance (43-28-11, 97 points).

* Via Elias, Pavelec became the first goaltender in Jets/Thrashers history to post shutouts on consecutive days. Two other netminders have accomplished that feat this season: Ryan Miller (Jan. 15-16) and Andrew Hammond (Feb. 25-26).

* With 15 career shutouts, Pavelec also moved past Kari Lehtonen and into sole possession of first place on the franchise’s all-time shutouts list.

* Overall, Pavelec improved to 22-16-7 in 49 appearances this season (2.34 GAA, .919 SV%, 4 SO). That includes a 9-2-0 record in his last 11 starts dating to March 14.

* Chris Thorburn scored the lone goal, the sixth decisive marker of his career (and second this season: also Jan. 16 at CHI).

MONAHAN, FLAMES CREATE BREATHING ROOM IN PACIFIC
Sean Monahan scored the tiebreaking goal with 10:34 remaining in regulation to propel the Flames to their fourth victory in their past five contests overall and a sweep of their five-game season series with the Coyotes.

* At 44-29-7 (95 points), the Flames moved two points ahead of the Kings (39-26-15, 93 points) – who lost in regulation – for third place in the Pacific Division. The teams meet one more time this season, on Thursday at CGY. The Flames own the ROW tiebreaker (CGY: 40, LAK: 37) and lead the season series (CGY: 3-1-0, LAK: 1-1-2).

* The Flames improved to 30-15-3 this season against the Western Conference, including a 21-6-1 mark against the Pacific Division. Their 30 such wins rank second in the NHL, behind the Ducks (33-10-5).

* Monahan recorded his eighth game-winning goal of the season, tied for third in the NHL behind Alex Ovechkin (11) and Max Pacioretty (10). Elias says he is just the fifth player in NHL history to post at least eight game-winning goals in one season before his 21st birthday. The others: Wayne Gretzky (1981-82), Pierre Turgeon(1989-90), Eric Lindros (1993-94) and Sergei Samsonov (1998-99).

* Monahan also leads the Flames with 31 goals this season, while his 61 points rank third. He has 2-3—5 during a five-game point streak.

* Johnny Gaudreau potted his 23rd goal of the season to move back into sole possession of first place in the rookie scoring race (23-39—62), one point ahead of Filip Forsberg and Mark Stone (both with 24-37—61).

* David Jones added the other goal, Dennis Wideman collected two assists and Jiri Hudler (0-1—1) posted his team-leading 73rd point of the season.

* Jonas Hiller made 22 saves to improve to 22-6-3 in 32 career appearances vs. ARI (2.47 GAA, .919 SV%, 2 SO). His 22 wins are his most against any opponent.

PLAYOFF SPOILERS . . .
Several teams played the role of spoiler in Tuesday’s games:

* The Islanders erased a three-goal deficit in the third period – highlight by a pair of extra-attacker strikes – but Brayden Schenn scored the tiebreaking goal with 2.1 seconds remaining in regulation to help the Flyers extend their point streak to seven games (4-0-3) and prevent the Islanders from clinching a playoff spot. Claude Giroux(2-0—2) notched his fourth multi-goal game of the season, while Mark Streit equaled a career high with three assists/points.
