BLACKHAWKS EDGE PENGUINS IN SHOOTOUT
The Penguins erased a two-goal deficit, but Jonathan Toews and Patrick Kane both scored in the shootout to lead the Blackhawks to their second straight win.

* At 30-15-2 (62 points), the Blackhawks tied the idle Blues (29-13-4, 62 points) – in terms of points – for second place in the Central Division. St. Louis, however, owns the ROW tiebreaker (STL: 25, CHI: 24).

* Toews notched his 37th career shootout goal and 13th decisive marker (37-for-75, 49.3%). His 37 shootout goals are tied for fourth among active skaters, while his 49.3% efficiency places third among active players with a minimum of 50 attempts.

* Toews also collected one assist to stretch his point streak to a season-high seven games (1-8—9). He ranks second on the Blackhawks with 14-28—42 in 47 appearances.

* Kane improved to 4-for-7 (57.1%) in shootouts this season. His 34 career shootout goals rank ninth among active skaters (34-for-84, 40.5%).

* Marian Hossa posted 1-1—2 for his ninth multi-point performance of the season. He places third on the club with 10-24—34 in 47 outings.

* Corey Crawford made 33 saves and denied both shootout attempts he faced to pick up his 18th win of the season. He has a .732 save percentage all-time in shootouts (109 SV / 149 SA), which ranks fourth among active goaltenders with a minimum of 100 shots against.

* The Blackhawks improved to 6-1 in shootouts this season. Their six such victories are tied for second in the NHL, one behind the Ducks (7-4).

* The Blackhawks picked up their third win in their past 15 visits to Pittsburgh since the 1992 Stanley Cup Final (3-9-3).

DUCKS CONTINUE HOME DOMINANCE OF FLAMES . . .
Six different players scored to power the Ducks to their 20th consecutive regular-season home victory against the Flames dating to April 4, 2004, their longest home winning streak versus any opponent in franchise history.

* At 31-10-6 (68 points), the Ducks moved three points ahead of the idle Predators (30-10-5, 65 points) for the top spot in the NHL standings. Nashville, however, holds two games in hand and owns the ROW tiebreaker (NSH: 26, ANA: 24).

* The Ducks improved to 9-2-1 in their past 12 games, including five straight wins dating to Jan. 11. They have posted two other winning streaks of at least five games this season: Oct. 11-24 (7-0-0) and Dec. 1-13 (7-0-0).

* Ben Lovejoy (1-1—2) registered his first regular-season goal since March 18, 2014 vs. WSH, snapping a 37-game drought. Corey Perry (0-2—2) and Nate Thompson (0-2—2) also notched multi-point performances.

* Ryan Getzlaf potted his 13th goal of the season. He paces the club and ranks seventh in the NHL with 50 points in 46 contests.

* Ryan Kesler, Tim Jackman, Patrick Maroon and Kyle Palmieri also found the back of the net. Jackman scored his second career game-winning goal and first since Dec. 31, 2010 vs. COL (w/ CGY).

* Battling the flu, Frederik Andersen made 30 saves to earn his 26th win of the season and move into sole possession of second place in the NHL (three victories behind League leader Pekka Rinne).

* The Ducks improved to 22-0-5 when scoring first this season. They are the only team yet to suffer a regulation loss in that scenario.

. . . COUTURE LEADS SHARKS IN STADIUM SERIES PREVIEW
Logan Couture posted 2-1—3 to lead the Sharks past the Kings in their final meeting before the 2015 Coors Light NHL Stadium Series, which will be contested on Saturday, Feb. 21, at Levi’s Stadium in Santa Clara, Calif.

* At 25-17-6 (56 points), the Sharks leapfrogged the idle Canucks (26-16-3, 55 points) for second place in the Pacific Division. Vancouver, however, holds three games in hand and owns the ROW tiebreaker (VAN: 24, SJS: 23).

* Couture notched his third three-point game of the season, also Oct. 18 at NJD (1-2—3) and Nov. 8 at DAL (0-3—3). He is tied for first on the club with 18-24—42 in 48 outings (w/ Joe Pavelski: 24-18—42 in 48 GP).

* Patrick Marleau registered 1-1—2; he has 39-47—86 in 96 career regular-season games vs. LAK, his most points against any opponent.

* Pavelski added his 12th power-play goal of the season, tied for first in the NHL (w/ Alex Ovechkin). He paces the Sharks with 24 overall goals, which shares fifth in the League (w/ Vladimir Tarasenko).

* Antti Niemi made 26 saves to improve to 14-7-3 with a 2.36 goals-against average, .924 save percentage and three shutouts in 25 career regular-season appearances vs. LAK.

DID YOU KNOW?
The home team is 15-2-1 in the last 18 regular-season meetings between the Sharks and Kings dating to Nov. 7, 2011 (SJS: 8-1-0, LAK: 7-1-1).

AVALANCHE RALLY PAST BRUINS
Trailing 2-1 late in the third period, Ryan O’Reilly evened the score with 1:45 remaining in regulation and Nathan MacKinnon potted the lone goal in the shootout to help the Avalanche improve to 5-2-2 in their past nine games.

* O’Reilly scored a tying goal in the final three minutes of regulation for the second time this season. The other came on Dec. 11, when O’Reilly evened the game at 17:18 of the third period and MacKinnon also found the back of the net in the shootout of a 4-3 win vs. WPG.

* Elias says only two other players have recorded a pair of tying goals in the final three minutes of regulation this season: Nick Bjugstad (Nov. 22 at NSH – 19:29; Dec. 30 vs. MTL – 18:11) and Thomas Vanek (Nov. 28 at DAL – 18:08; Dec. 20 vs. NSH – 19:12).

* Jarome Iginla tallied his 574th career goal to move past Mike Bossy and into sole possession of 20th place in NHL history.

* Semyon Varlamov made 22 saves and denied all three shootout attempts he faced to improve to 12-10-6 in 28 appearances this season, including a 7-3-1 mark in his past 11 outings.

* The Avalanche picked up their first home victory over the Bruins since Dec. 7, 2005, snapping a three-game skid.

HUTCHINSON, JETS BLANK BLUE JACKETS
Rookie Michael Hutchinson stopped all 29 shots he faced to earn his second career shutout and lead the Jets to their first five-game winning streak since April 6-18, 2013 (5-0-0).

* At 26-14-8 (60 points), the Jets kept pace with the Blackhawks (30-15-2, 62 points) – who also won on Wednesday – for third place in the Central Division. They also moved seven points ahead of the Flames (25-19-3, 53 points) – who lost on Wednesday – for the first Wild Card spot in the Western Conference.

* Hutchinson picked up his fourth consecutive personal victory. He has a 14-4-2 record in 21 appearances this season, ranking second among goaltenders in goals-against average (1.90) and save percentage (.935).

* Eleven different skaters found the scoresheet for the Jets, including goals from Evander Kane, Jim Slater, Chris Thorburn and Blake Wheeler.

* Jacob Trouba collected one assist and logged 20:16 of ice-time in his first game since Dec. 13.

* The Jets improved to 3-1-0 in their last four meetings with the Blue Jackets following a six-game losing streak in the head-to-head series dating to Dec. 26, 2007.

KARLSSON POWERS SENATORS IN BATTLE OF ONTARIO
Erik Karlsson scored twice, including the game-winning marker, to propel the Senators past the Maple Leafs in the second edition of the Battle of Ontario.

* Karlsson notched his seventh career multi-goal game and first since Nov. 5, 2013 at CBJ (2-0—2). He is tied for first on the team with 11-22—33 in 46 appearances this season (w/ Bobby Ryan: 12-21—33 in 43 GP).

* Per Elias, Karlsson’s seven career multi-goal games rank third among defensemen since he entered the NHL in 2009-10. The only blueliners with more such performances in that span: Shea Weber (9) and Mike Green (8).

* Elias also says that Karlsson’s seven career multi-goal games are a franchise record for a defensemen. Wade Redden previously held the mark with six.

* Mike Hoffman (1-1—2) and Ryan (0-2—2) also registered multi-point games for the Senators, who have earned points in eight of their past 12 contests (5-4-3).

* Mark Stone added one assist to stretch his point streak to a career-high seven games (2-6—8).

* Craig Anderson made 37 saves, including 15 in the third period, to improve to 8-6-2 with a 2.72 goals-against average, .920 save percentage and two shutouts in 17 career appearances vs. TOR.

LOOSE PUCKS
Despite suffering the shootout loss, the Penguins have picked up points in each of their past 11 home games against the Blackhawks dating to March 5, 1998 (7-0-4) . . . Maple Leafs forward James van Riemsdyk reached the 20-goal milestone for the second consecutive season and third time in his career (also 2010-11 w/ PHI) . . . Flames forward Sean Monahan found the back of the net for the fourth straight game (4-1—5) . . . Kings forward Anze Kopitar collected two assists; he has 15-30—45 in 51 career regular-season games vs. SJS . . . Maple Leafs defenseman Jake Gardiner (0-2—2) posted his second multi-point game of the season (also Nov. 29 vs. WSH: 0-2—2) . . . Bruins forward David Krejci recorded his 400th NHL point (116-284—400 in 532 GP) . . . Penguins forward Zach Sill scored his first NHL goal (52 GP) . . . Kings forward Nick Shore registered his first NHL assist/point (3 GP) . . . ICYMI: The NHL announced the details of the inaugural NHL Mascot Showdown, part of the 2015 NHL All-Star Weekend in Columbus . . . Ray Whitney announced his retirement.
