REMINDER: HOLIDAY ROSTER FREEZE
For all players on an NHL active roster, injured reserve, or with non-roster and injured non-roster status as of midnight (local time) tonight, a roster freeze shall apply through midnight (local time) on Saturday, Dec. 27, with respect to waivers, trades and loans, subject to the exceptions provided for in CBA Article 16.5 (d).

STREAK BUSTERS
The Capitals, Hurricanes and Kings recorded victories on Thursday to halt the winning streaks of the Blue Jackets (7), Maple Leafs (6) and Blues (5), respectively.

FEHR LIFTS CAPITALS OVER BLUE JACKETS IN OVERTIME . . .
Troy Brouwer potted the tying goal with 3:00 remaining in regulation and Eric Fehr (1-1—2) scored 42 seconds into overtime to help the Capitals extend their point streak to seven contests (5-0-2), their longest such run since March 30 – April 16, 2013 (9-0-1).

* With the victory, the Capitals halted the Blue Jackets’ winning streak at seven games, one shy of the franchise record set Jan. 6-23, 2014. They also improved to 7-2-2 in their last 11 meetings with Columbus dating to Nov. 1, 2009.

* Fehr recorded his fourth career overtime goal and second this season (also Nov. 18 vs. ARI). Only four players have scored more overtime goals in Capitals history: Alex Ovechkin (15), Mike Green (8), Peter Bondra (5) and Kelly Miller (5).

* Karl Alzner (1-1—2), Jason Chimera (1-1—2), Green (0-2—2) and Michael Latta (1-1—2) also registered multi-point games.

* Braden Holtby made 22 saves to improve to 13-7-5 with a 2.38 goals-against average, .914 save percentage and one shutout in 26 appearances this season. He also improved to 4-1-1 in seven career games against the Blue Jackets (2.97 GAA, .895 SV%).

* Holtby has started all seven games during the team’s current point streak, compiling a 2.09 goals-against average and .927 save percentage in that span.

* The Capitals improved to 9-5-2 this season as visitors; their nine road wins are tied for the most in the Eastern Conference (w/ PIT: 9-2-3).

. . . HURRICANES CONTINUE DOMINANCE OF MAPLE LEAFS . . .
Defensemen Justin Faulk and Andrej Sekera both posted 1-1—2 to help the Hurricanes end a six-game skid.

* With the victory, the Hurricanes snapped the Maple Leafs’ winning streak at six games. They also improved to 8-2-1 in their last 11 meetings with Toronto dating to Nov. 20, 2011, including a 5-0-0 mark at PNC Arena.

* Faulk recorded his sixth career game-winning goal and third career shorthanded marker, two of which have come this season (also Nov. 4 at CBJ). Elias says only two other defensemen have collected multiple shorthanded goals in one season for the franchise since it relocated to Carolina: Sandis Ozolinsh (2 in 2000-01) and Mike Commodore (2 in 2006-07).

* Faulk paces the Hurricanes with 6-13—19 in 31 games this season. Only three other defensemen lead their teams in points: Calgary’s Mark Giordano (8-23—31 in 33 GP), Colorado’s Tyson Barrie (tied; 3-17—20 in 31 GP) and Ottawa’s Erik Karlsson (tied; 7-14—21 in 31 GP).

* Nathan Gerbe and Eric Staal both registered two assists. Staal has 17-22—39 in 36 career games against the Maple Leafs.

* Cam Ward made 25 saves to snap a four-game personal skid. He has a 2.13 goals-against average, .923 save percentage and one shutout in his last 18 appearances dating to Nov. 1 (9-9-0).

. . . KOPITAR, KINGS RALLY PAST BLUES
Down 3-0 late in the first period, the line of Anze Kopitar (1-4—5), Jeff Carter (1-3—4) and Marian Gaborik (2-1—3) combined for 4-8—12 to help the Kings snap a three-game skid and earn a split of their home-and-home series with the Blues.

* With the victory, the Kings ended the Blues’ winning streak at five games. They also improved to 16-4-0 in their last 20 meetings with St. Louis dating to March 22, 2012, and 11-0-0 in their past 11 matchups at STAPLES Center dating to Oct. 18, 2011 (regular season and playoffs).

* The Kings overcame a three-goal deficit to win in the regular season for the first time since March 5, 2013, when they rallied from a 4-1 hole to defeat the Blues 6-4.

* Kopitar set a career high for points in one game. He also matched his best single-game assist total, established Dec. 6, 2007 vs. BUF (0-4—4).

* Carter snapped a 13-game goal drought. He also matched career highs for assist and points in one game, both achieved earlier this season (Oct. 26 vs. CBJ: 1-3—4).

* Gaborik found the back of the net for the third consecutive game (5-1—6), the first time he has scored in three straight contests since Oct. 20-25, 2013 (3-0—3 w/ CBJ). He also now has recorded multiple goals in consecutive games for the first time since Dec. 17-20, 2011 (4-1—5 w/ NYR).

* The Kings improved to 12-4-1 this season at STAPLES Center; their 12 home wins and 25 home-ice points share first in the Western Conference.

FLEURY, COMEAU POWER PENGUINS
Marc-Andre Fleury stopped all 29 shots he faced and Blake Comeau scored at 2:24 of overtime to help the Penguins stretch their point streak to six games (4-0-2).

* Fleury established a career high with his League-leading sixth shutout of the season (24 GP). Per Elias, he is the first goaltender to record six shutouts in his first 24 starts of one season since Steve Mason accomplished that feat with the Blue Jackets in 2008-09.

* In addition to pacing the NHL in shutouts, Fleury ranks in the top five in wins (t-2nd; 18), goals-against average (5th; 2.01) and save percentage (5th; .930). His six clean sheets are one shy of the Penguins’ single-season record, set by Tom Barrasso in 1997-98 (63 GP).

* Comeau recorded his third career overtime goal and second of the season (also Nov. 26 vs. TOR: 3-0—3). Ten of Comeau’s 11 goals in 2014-15 have come at CONSOL Energy Center. Only two players have scored more on home ice this season: Dallas’ Tyler Seguin (15) and Detroit’s Gustav Nyquist (11).

* Evgeni Malkin picked up the primary assist on Comeau’s goal to extend his point streak to six games (3-5—8). He shares the League lead with 15-23—38 in 31 outings this season.

* The Penguins improved to 6-1-0 in their last seven meetings with the Avalanche dating to Dec. 3, 2009.

YOUNG GUNS HELP SHARKS RALLY AGAINST OILERS
Trailing 3-2 after 40 minutes, Matt Tennyson and Barclay Goodrow scored 34 seconds apart in the third period to lift the Sharks to their fourth consecutive victory.

* Tennyson recorded his first NHL goal (8 GP). He became the first graduate of San Jose’s Junior Sharks program to score for the NHL club.

* Goodrow registered his first career game-winning goal and added an assist for his first multi-point game (17 GP).

* Melker Karlsson also collected two helpers for his first career multi-point game (4 GP).

* Antti Niemi made 25 saves to pick up his sixth straight victory (2.33 GAA, .922 SV%, 1 SO); he last recorded six straight wins from Nov. 21 – Dec. 3, 2013.

* The Sharks improved to 20-4-2 in their last 26 meetings with the Oilers dating to Jan. 9, 2009, including a 10-1-1 mark at SAP Center.

DUCKS EDGE CANADIENS AS TEAMS HONOR KOIVU
On a night when both clubs honored former teammate Saku Koivu, Matt Beleskey potted the tiebreaking goal at 8:33 of the third period to power the Ducks to their eight victory in their past nine outings.

* Beleskey tallied his team-leading 15th goal of the season (34 GP), already four more than his previous career high set in 2009-10 (60 GP). He also established a career high with his fourth game-winning goal of the season, tied for second in the NHL.

* Ryan Getzlaf added his 25th assist of the season, which ranks fourth in the League. His 35 points also share fifth overall.

* Making his 20th consecutive start, Frederik Andersen recorded 23 saves to improve to 18-5-4 with a 2.41 goals-against average, .913 save percentage and one shutout in 28 appearances.

* The Ducks improved to 6-1-2 in their last nine meetings with the Canadiens dating to Dec. 10, 2005. They also improved to 16-0-5 in one-goal games this season; their 16 such victories lead the NHL, while their .762 winning percentage ranks third.

* ICYMI: The Canadiens and Ducks honored Koivu during a pregame ceremony. Koivu split his 18-season NHL career with both clubs, totaling 191-450—641 in 792 games with Montreal and 64-127—191 in 332 games with Anaheim.

LUONGO, PANTHERS (AGAIN) ESCAPE IN SHOOTOUT
After setting an NHL record by playing a 20-round shootout on Tuesday, Dave Bolland scored in the sixth round of the tiebreaker to help the Panthers improve to 7-2-2 in their last 11 games.

* Roberto Luongo made 25 saves – and denied five attempts in the shootout – to pick up his third consecutive victory. Luongo also manned the pipes during Tuesday’s record-setting tiebreaker, yielding only five goals on 20 attempts.

* Luongo recorded his 385th career win to tie Mike Vernon for 12th place in NHL history.

* Bolland posted his second career game-deciding goal and improved to 3-for-11 (27.3%) in shootout attempts.

* The Panthers picked up their fifth victory in their last eight visits to Wells Fargo Center dating to Dec. 20, 2010.

LOOSE PUCKS
Blue Jackets forward Nick Foligno registered 2-1—3 to eclipse 100 NHL goals (101-135—236 in 496 GP). He leads the club and ranks sixth in the League with 16 goals in 30 outings, two shy of his single-season high set in 2013-14 (18 in 70 GP) . . . Foligno’s father, Michael, posted 355-372—727 in 1,018 games. Per Elias, four other active players have at least 100 goals and also have fathers who reached the century mark: Zach (252) and J.P. Parise (238); Paul (167) and Peter Stastny (450); Alexander (164) and Thomas Steen (264); and Sam (104) and Dave Gagner (318) . . . Avalanche goaltender Calvin Pickard made a career-high 47 saves, including 19 in the third period . . . Blues teammates Vladimir Tarasenko (6-5—11) and Alex Pietrangelo (1-5—6) extended their point streaks to seven and six games, respectively . . . Flyers forward Jakub Voracek scored in regulation and the shootout to keep pace for the League lead in points (12-26—38 in 31 GP) . . . Blue Jackets forward Michael Chaput recorded his first NHL goal (44 GP) . . . Avalanche defenseman Brad Stuart became the 293rd player and 100th blueliner in NHL history to appear in 1,000 games . . .
