REIMER, MAPLE LEAFS EDGE RED WINGS
Making his first start since Nov. 15, James Reimer recorded 41 saves – and denied two shootout attempts – to backstop the Maple Leafs to their third consecutive victory and seventh win in their past nine outings (7-1-1).

* At 16-9-3 (35 points), the Maple Leafs occupy the first Wild Card spot in the Eastern Conference and also sit three points behind the Canadiens (18-10-2, 38 points) for third place in the Atlantic Division.

* Reimer faced 40-plus shots for the third time this season, following a season-high 45 saves Nov. 1 vs. CHI (47 SA) and 38 saves Nov. 9 at OTT (41 SA). He improved to 3-0-0 in those games; Elias says no other goaltender has earned more than two such wins when facing at least 40 shots this season.

* Reimer picked up his first career victory over the Red Wings. He had a 0-3-0 record with a 3.96 goals-against average and .877 save percentage in four career appearances versus Detroit prior to Wednesday.

* Phil Kessel scored his team-leading 15th goal of the season, tied for fifth in the NHL. He has found the back of the net in four of the past five games (4-0—4).

* Mike Santorelli potted the decisive marker in the shootout, his sixth career game-deciding goal (13-for-29, 44.8%).

* Tyler Bozak also scored in the tiebreaker; at 12-for-20, he leads active skaters with a 60.0% conversation rate in shootouts (minimum: 15 attempts).

* The Maple Leafs improved to 4-3-2 in their last nine meetings with the Red Wings dating to Jan. 7, 2012, including a 3-2 shootout victory in the 2014 Bridgestone NHL Winter Classic at Michigan Stadium.

BELESKEY, KESLER POWER DUCKS
Matt Beleskey and Ryan Kesler provided all of the offense to propel the Ducks to their fifth consecutive win and eighth victory in their past 10 games.

* The Ducks improved to 19-6-5 (43 points), extending their lead for the top spot in the Western Conference and NHL standings. They also tied the Blackhawks (19-8-1, 39 points) and Islanders (19-9-0, 38 points) for the most wins in the League.

* Each of the Ducks’ last 12 victories has been by one goal, including five decided in extra time (2 in OT, 3 in SO). They improved to 15-0-5 in one-goal games this season; their 15 such victories lead the NHL, while their .750 winning percentage ranks third.

* Kesler found the back of the net for the third consecutive game, totaling 4-1—5 in that span. He also won 16-of-21 face-offs (76.2%) and recorded his second game-winning goal of the season (other: Oct. 22 vs. BUF).

* Beleskey scored his team-leading 14th goal, tied for seventh in the NHL (30 GP). Prior to 2014-15, he had never registered more than 11 goals in one campaign (2009-10: 11-7—18 in 60 GP).

* Making his career-high 16th consecutive start, Frederik Andersen posted 21 saves to improve to 15-4-4 with a 2.46 goals-against average, .913 save percentage and one shutout in 24 appearances. He also collected his third career assist (second this season) on Kesler’s goal.

* The Ducks improved to 18-3-1 against the Oilers dating to March 31, 2009, including five consecutive victories at Honda Center.

2013 STANLEY CUP FINALISTS MEET IN BOSTON
The Bruins and Blackhawks face off for just the third time since the 2013 Stanley Cup Final when they meet at TD Garden. Boston is 3-0-1 in the last four regular-season matchups between these clubs, including a pair of 3-0 shutouts at home, and 7-1-2 in their last 10 regular-season meetings dating to Dec. 29, 2006. Chicago, however, enters Thursday’s contest on a seven-game winning streak, tied for the longest such run in the NHL this season. The Bruins, meanwhile, have lost five of their past seven outings (2-4-1), but are 7-1-1 in their last nine games at TD Garden.

HOT CLUBS FACE OFF IN WASHINGTON
Both the Capitals and Blue Jackets will try to extend their respective winning streaks when they face off at Verizon Center. Washington has won three in a row, its second such stretch of the season (also Nov. 7-11), while Columbus has won a season-high four consecutive games. The Capitals have dominated the head-to-head series between these clubs, going 6-2-0 in their last eight meetings and 12-5-2 in 19 all-time games. That includes a 4-2 victory in their first matchup of the season Nov. 11 at WSH, aided by Marcus Johansson’s first multi-goal performance since Jan. 9, 2012.
