FLAMES STAGE THIRD-PERIOD RALLY TO EDGE DUCKS
Down 2-0 after 40 minutes, the Flames scored three third-period goals en route to a 4-3 shootout win over the Ducks. With the victory, Calgary (12-6-2, 26 points) moved one within one point of Anaheim (11-4-5, 27 points) for the top spot in the Pacific Division and Western Conference.

* Facing his former club for the first time, Jonas Hiller made 24 saves – and denied two of three shootout attempts – to improve to 9-4-1 with a 2.33 goals-against average, .920 save percentage and one shutout in 14 GP.

* Dennis Wideman (2-0—2) matched a career high for goals in one game; his only other multi-goal effort came Dec. 9, 2011 vs. TOR (2-2—4 w/ WSH).

* Per Elias, Wideman became the first Flames defenseman to record a multi-goal game since Feb. 19, 2008, when Dion Phaneuf found the back of the net twice in a 4-1 victory at PHX.

* Sean Monahan netted the decisive goal in the tiebreaker. He now is 6-for-10 (60.0%), with five game-deciding goals, in his shootout career; Monahan’s 60.0% efficiency leads all active players with a minimum of 10 attempts.

* The Flames improved to 5-2-0 in their last seven meetings with the Ducks at Scotiabank Saddledome (dating to Jan. 12, 2012).

FLEURY, PENGUINS BLANK CANADIENS . . .
Marc-Andre Fleury stopped all 27 shots he faced to record his League-leading fourth shutout of the season (32nd of his career) and backstop the Penguins to their 10th win in their last 11 games.

* All four of Fleury’s shutouts have come during his last nine starts, during which he has an 8-1-0 record with a 1.53 goals-against average and .944 save percentage.

* Fleury improved to 11-3-0 overall this season, with a 1.98 goals-against average and .930 save percentage. He now is one win shy of 300 for his career (299-172-48 in 545 GP).

* Beau Bennett posted 1-2—3, including the game-winning goal, to set a career high for points in one game.

* Sidney Crosby recorded his eighth goal of the season to move into a tie for the most points in the NHL (8-18—26 in 17 GP).

* Olli Maatta returned to Pittsburgh’s lineup just two weeks after undergoing surgery to remove a cancerous tumor from his thyroid gland.

* The Penguins improved to 8-1-2 in their last 11 meetings with the Canadiens (dating to Oct. 20, 2011).

. . . RASK, HOWARD ALSO SHUT THE DOOR
Two other goaltenders were unbeatable in leading their clubs to victories Tuesday:

* Tuukka Rask made 33 saves to pick up his first shutout of the season (24th of his career) and lift the Bruins to their seventh win in their last nine outings (6-0-0 at home). Patrice Bergeron scored the game-winning goal for the second consecutive game (also Saturday vs. CAR). The Bruins earned their first home-ice victory against the Blues since Jan. 30, 2001 (0-2-4) and improved to 4-0-4 in their last eight overall meetings (dating to Dec. 21, 2008).

* Playing in his 300th NHL game, Jimmy Howard posted 28 saves to record his first shutout of the season (19th of his career) and backstop the Red Wings to their third win in their last five starts (3-1-1). Howard now has an 11-4-2 record with a 1.94 goals-against average, .928 save percentage and two shutouts in 19 career regular-season games against the Blue Jackets. Detroit picked up its first win in Columbus since Jan. 21, 2013, snapping a four-game skid.

PREDATORS TIE FRANCHISE RECORD WITH NINE GOALS
The Predators scored a season-high nine goals, including eight consecutive to open the game, to pick up their third victory in their last four visits to Air Canada Centre (dating to Jan. 13, 2009).

* The Predators’ nine goals matched a franchise record established March 4, 2004 at PIT (9-4 W) and equaled March 18, 2006 vs. CGY (9-4 W).

* Five of the Predators’ goals were scored in the third period, their most in a single frame since April 12, when they also registered five goals in the final 20 minutes of a 7-5 victory vs. CHI.

* Fifteen different players collected at least one point, including nine who posted multi-point efforts. Per Elias, both are club records for one game.

* Taylor Beck (2-1—3) set career highs for goals and points in one game. Shea Weber (0-3—3) matched his single-game high for assists, last accomplished March 8, 2013 vs. EDM.

* Filip Forsberg recorded 1-1—2 for his seventh multi-point performance of the season. He continues to lead all rookies in goals (9), assists (13), points (22), power-play points (6), game-winning goals (2-tied) and plus/minus (+20).

* Pekka Rinne made 29 saves to pick up his League-leading 12th win. He also ranks in the top five in goals-against average (1.92) and save percentage (.930).

SABRES CONTINUE DOMINANCE OF SHARKS . . .
Brian Gionta (2-1—3) scored his first two goals of the season to power the Sabres to their eighth consecutive victory over the Sharks (dating to Feb. 13, 2010).

* With the win, the Sabres also improved to 16-1-0 in 17 all-time home games against the Sharks.

* Gionta recorded his first three-point game since Oct. 15, 2011 vs. COL (1-2—3) and first multi-goal game since April 5 vs. DET (2-0—2).

* After entering the game in relief of injured starter Michal Neuvirth, Jhonas Enroth posted 19 saves to snap a seven-game personal losing streak (0-6-1).

* Tyler Myers (0-2—2) collected his 100th NHL assist, becoming the 16th defenseman in Sabres history to reach the milestone.

. . . HURRICANES END WOES IN DALLAS
Trailing 2-0 after the first period, the Hurricanes scored five consecutive goals – including four in the middle frame – to pick up the franchise’s second-ever win in Dallas and first since Feb. 11, 1996 (2-7-5 in 14 total trips).

* Eric Staal registered 2-1—3, including the game-winning goal, for his first multi-goal game since April 13 at PHI (2-0—2) and first three-point game since Dec. 31, 2013 vs. MTL (1-2—3).

* Staal also posted his 44th career game-winning goal and first since Feb. 11, 2013 at NYI. He now has 9-4—13 in 11 career games against the Stars.

* John-Michael Liles collected two assists for his first multi-point game since April 3 vs. DAL (1-2—3).

* Cam Ward made 23 saves to improve to 6-2-0 with a 1.88 goals-against average, .931 save percentage and one shutout in his last eight starts.

AROUND THE LEAGUE
Other highlights from Tuesday’s action:

* Down 1-0 after 20 minutes, the Islanders scored three second-period goals en route to their sixth win in their last seven outings. At 12-6-0, the Islanders have won 12 of their first 18 games of the season for the first time since 1987-88 (13-4-1). They didn’t reach 12 wins until their 40th contest in 2013-14.

* Scoreless after the opening frame, the Kings posted four second-period goals to improve to 9-2-1 at STAPLES Center, the most home wins and points (19) by any club this season. They also improved to 10-1-0 in their last 11 meetings with the Panthers (dating to Nov. 5, 2003), including six straight wins on home ice.

* Eric Fehr scored at 3:16 of overtime to lift the Capitals to their first win in Arizona since Jan. 16, 2006 (0-2-1). Fehr recorded his third career regular-season overtime goal; his other two both came during the 2012-13 season, March 5 vs. BOS and April 27 vs. BOS.

* Michael Hutchinson made 21 saves to backstop the Jets to their fifth win in their last seven meetings with the Devils (dating to Feb. 24, 2013; 5-0-2). Hutchinson now has a 5-2-1 record in nine career NHL appearances, including a 3-1-1 mark with a 1.38 goals-against average, .948 save percentage and one shutout in 2014-15.

LOOSE PUCKS
Panthers forward Rocco Grimaldi played two games in two leagues about 1,350 miles and 11 hours apart Tuesday. After suiting up for the AHL’s San Antonio Rampage Tuesday morning, Grimaldi and his mother flew to Los Angeles, where he logged 10:36 of ice-time for the Panthers . . . Stars forward Tyler Seguin scored twice to move into sole possession of first place in goals (14). He also ranks third with 24 points . . . Devils goaltender Cory Schneider (31 saves) started his 19th consecutive game to open the season, tying the franchise record established by Martin Brodeur in 2001-02 . . . Ducks defenseman Sami Vatanen (1-2—3) matched career highs for assists and points in one game . . . Celebrating his 27th birthday, Islanders forward Cal Clutterbuck scored his second goal of the season and the 10th shorthanded tally of his career . . . Lightning goaltender Evgeni Nabokov made 31 saves in his return to Long Island . . . Maple Leafs defenseman Cody Franson extended his career-long point streak to eight games (2-8—10) . . . Sharks forward Joe Thornton pushed his point streak to seven games (4-4—8) . . . Panthers forward Vincent Trocheck stretched his career-long point streak to five games (1-5—6) . . . Predators forward Derek Roy posted his 500th NHL point . . . Jets forward Michael Frolik (1-1—2) recorded his 200th NHL point . . . Panthers forward Brad Boyes (700), Hurricanes forward Jay McClement (700), Coyotes forward Sam Gagner (500) and Blues defenseman Kevin Shattenkirk (300) all played in milestone games . . . ICYMI: The Kings wore special jerseys during warmups and infielder Justin Turner dropped the ceremonial opening puck as part of Dodgers Night at STAPLES Center . . . The Flames honored Hall of Fame broadcaster Peter Maher, whose career spanned more than four decades . . . Panthers captain Willie Mitchell received his 2014 Stanley Cup ring in his return to Los Angeles. Mitchell played three seasons with the Kings, compiling 11-35—46 and a +38 rating in 209 GP.

FLYERS VISIT RANGERS IN FIRST MEETING SINCE PLAYOFFS
The Flyers visit the Rangers in their first meeting since the opening round of the 2014 Stanley Cup Playoffs, a seven-game series victory by New York sealed with a 2-1 win in Game 7 at Madison Square Garden. This marks the first of four games between these clubs in 2014-15; the Rangers have won 13 of their last 17 regular-season matchups (dating to March 6, 2011), including all eight contested at Madison Square Garden. Overall, New York has earned points in 10 of its last 14 outings (6-4-4) and eight of its past 10 home games (5-2-3). Philadelphia, meanwhile, has lost two straight overall and three in a row on the road. These clubs will face off three times in the next 10 days, also Nov. 28 at PHI (2014 Discover NHL Thanksgiving Showdown) and Nov. 29 at NYR.
