PENGUINS TRY TO PUSH WINNING STREAK TO EIGHT . . .
The Penguins will try to extend their seven-game winning streak when they visit the Rangers at Madison Square Garden in their first meeting since the Second Round of the 2014 Stanley Cup Playoffs, a seven-game series victory by New York in which it overcame a 3-1 deficit for the first time in franchise history. Pittsburgh has won 10 of the last 13 regular-season matchups between these clubs dating to Jan. 19, 2012 (10-2-1), including five of seven contests at MSG. The Penguins also have won 10 of their past 14 regular-season trips to MSG dating to Nov. 30, 2009.

. . . LIGHTNING LOOK FOR SEVENTH STRAIGHT VICTORY
The Lightning will try to stretch their winning streak to seven games when they face the Blackhawks at United Center. This game pits the top offense in the NHL against the stingiest defense: Tampa Bay leads the League with 57 goals for this season, while Chicago paces the NHL in goals against per game (1.87). The Lightning have won their last five meetings with the Blackhawks dating to March 9, 2011, including both contests in Chicago. Overall, Tampa Bay sits atop the NHL standings with an 11-3-1 record; its 23 points match a franchise record through the first 15 games of one season (2003-04: 10-2-2-1). The Blackhawks, meanwhile, have won two of their last three, including a 5-2 victory Sunday vs. SJS.

ELLIOTT, BLUES PAY TRIBUTE TO VETERANS
The Blues, along with several other NHL teams, will show their support of Veterans Day in the U.S. and Remembrance Day in Canada with special tributes Tuesday. Goaltender Brian Elliott will wear a military-themed mask, which was delivered Monday by World War II veteran Charles Rohde.

“It’s definitely an honor getting [the mask] from Mr. Rohde, someone that’s been through something that we’ve only read [about] in books,” Elliott said. “He’s a hero. It’s an honor to be in his presence.”

Rohde, 92, lives in St. Louis and was a technical sergeant in the 267th AAA AW Battalion during World War II. He was part of battles in Normandy, Northern France, the Rhineland, Ardennes and Central Europe. He was there on D-Day, too, where he saw a nearby truck get hit with burning metal and debris. While taking fire, Rohde raced to the truck and saved the TNT, ammunition and records that were inside.

Since then, Rohde has been awarded five bronze battle stars from the U.S. Army. He also has won the Bronze Star Medal, the fourth-highest individual military award. And for his heroic efforts on D-Day, France awarded him with the Legion of Honor, the country’s highest honor.
