WILD REVERSAL OF FORTUNE
After surrendering a 3-0 lead in the final 20 minutes Monday, the Wild scored three unanswered goals in the third period to rally from a 3-1 deficit and defeat the Bruins Tuesday.

* The Wild recorded their first multi-goal comeback victory since March 23, when they fell behind 2-0 in the first period but ultimately rallied for a 4-3 overtime victory at DET.

* According to the Elias Sports Bureau, it also marked just the third time in Wild history the team has won a game in regulation time when trailing by two goals in the third period. The other such occasions: Jan. 16, 2004 vs. PIT (trailed 2-0 and won 4-2) and Dec. 18, 2007 vs. NSH (trailed 2-0 and won 3-2).

* Zach Parise sparked Minnesota’s comeback with his fourth goal of the season at 4:21 of the third period. He paces the club with 4-4—8 in eight games this season.

* Marco Scandella scored the tiebreaking goal with 5:53 remaining, his third career game-winner and first since Dec. 5, 2013 vs. CHI.

* In his second start of the season, Niklas Backstrom made 25 saves to improve to 5-0-1 with a 1.32 goals-against average, .957 save percentage and two shutouts in six career appearances against the Bruins.

* The Wild outshot the Bruins 42-28, including an 18-8 margin in the final frame. Minnesota became just the sixth team to register 40 or more shots on goal against the Bruins in Boston since the start of the 2011-12 season.

* The Wild improved to 12-2-1 all-time against the Bruins, including a 7-1-0 mark in Boston.

SEVEN STRAIGHT GOALS POWER PENGUINS
Trailing 3-1 early in the second period, the Penguins scored seven unanswered goals, including a pair by Sidney Crosby, to pick up their second consecutive victory.

* Twelve Penguins players found the scoresheet, including multi-point efforts by Crosby (2-0—2), Blake Comeau (1-1—2), Steve Downie (1-1—2), Pascal Dupuis (1-1—2), Patric Hornqvist (1-1—2), Simon Despres (0-2—2) and Brandon Sutter (0-2—2).

* Evgeni Malkin sparked Pittsburgh’s comeback with his fourth power-play goal of the season (tied for the League lead with Trevor Daley and Corey Perry). He also extended his season-long point streak to eight games (4-7—11).

* In his first game following the announcement that he will undergo surgery next week to remove a tumor from his neck that could be low-grade thyroid cancer, Olli Maatta collected an assist to push his point streak to three games (1-2—3).

* The Penguins improved to 9-2-0 in 11 all-time meetings with the Devils at CONSOL Energy Center.

* The Penguins became the first team to register eight goals in an NHL game since March 22, when the Flames posted an 8-1 victory over the Oilers. They also tied a franchise record for the most goals at CONSOL Energy Center (accomplished six previous times, most recently April 27, 2013 vs. CAR).

THREE’S A CHARM
A pair of players scored their first career hat tricks Tuesday to lift their teams to victories:

* Vladimir Tarasenko registered 3-1—4, including the winning goal at 1:28 of overtime, to help the Blues erase three one-goal deficits and post consecutive victories for the first time this season. Tarasenko also established a career high for points in one game, surpassing his previous mark of three accomplished three times (most recently Oct. 18 at ARI: 0-3—3).

* According to the Elias Sports Bureau, Tarasenko became the second player in Blues history to register a hat trick in a regular-season game with the third goal being scored in overtime. The other: Brett Hull, who powered the Blues to a 3-2 overtime victory Oct. 9, 1997 vs. LAK. The last player to accomplish that feat for any team was Antoine Vermette, who led the Coyotes to a 4-3 overtime win Dec. 21, 2013 at OTT.

* Rookie Jori Lehtera added 1-2—3 for his second three-point game in his last four outings (also Oct. 18 at ARI: 1-2—3).

* Nikita Kucherov scored once in each period to pick up his first career hat trick and power the Lightning to their third win in their last four games. He also matched a career high for points in one game, set on Friday (0-3—3 at WPG).

* Per Elias, Kucherov (21) became the fourth player in Lightning history to register a hat trick before his 22nd birthday. The others: Steve Stamkos (5x), Chris Gratton and Jason Wiemer.

* Tyler Johnson collected a career-high four assists/points to extend his assist/point streak to seven games (0-11—11). His 11 helpers this season are tied for the League lead with Jakub Voracek.

GOALTENDERS SHINE IN VICTORIES
Several goaltenders led their clubs to wins Tuesday:

* John Gibson made 38 saves, including 18 in the third period, to record his second career shutout (6 GP) and lead the Ducks to their sixth victory in their last eight meetings with the Blackhawks. Devante Smith-Pelly scored shorthanded at 11:32 of the third period for the lone goal of the game.

* Jonathan Bernier stopped all 10 shots he faced to earn his eighth career shutout and help the Maple Leafs improve to 2-1-1 in their last four outings. Per Elias, the 10 shots allowed match the fewest in Maple Leafs history (also Jan. 5, 2002 vs. OTT).

* Ryan Miller made 29 saves to collect his 300th NHL victory and backstop the Canucks to their third win in their last four games. Miller became the fourth active goaltender to reach 300 career victories, joining Roberto Luongo (375), Evgeni Nabokov (351) and Henrik Lundqvist (314).

* Antti Niemi posted 31 saves – and denied both shootout attempts he faced – to lead the Sharks to their second consecutive win following a four-game skid. Brent Burns added his fourth goal of the season to extend his point streak to five games (3-2—5); he leads all defensemen with 12 points in 2014-15.

* Carey Price made a season-high 37 saves – plus another three in the shootout – to lift the Canadiens to their fourth victory in their last five outings. Pierre-Alexandre Parenteau netted the lone tally in the tiebreaker, his sixth career game-deciding goal (13-for-27, 48.1%).

SCHENN HAUNTS FORMER TEAM
Brayden Schenn scored at 2:36 of overtime to help the Flyers pick up their third win overall and snap a three-game skid against the Kings at Wells Fargo Center.

* Schenn, who was selected by the Kings fifth overall in the 2009 NHL Draft, posted his second career overtime goal (also Jan. 7 at NJD).

* Jakub Voracek collected two assists, including the 200th of his NHL career. He now has recorded multiple helpers in each of the past three games (0-6—6).

* Chris VandeVelde scored his second career NHL goal and first since March 25, 2012 at CBJ (while with the Oilers).

* Ray Emery made 38 saves, including a combined 15 in the third period and overtime, to improve to 4-0-1 with a 2.44 goals-against average and .924 save percentage this season.

HOT LIST
Several other players extended their point streaks Tuesday:

* Blue Jackets forward Ryan Johansen posted an assist to stretch his season-long point streak to nine games (5-7—12). It marks the longest season-opening point streak in franchise history and also ties Johansen’s personal best (Nov. 29 – Dec. 16, 2013: 4-7—11 in 9 GP).

* Stars forward Tyler Seguin recorded 1-1—2, including his 100th NHL goal, to push his point streak to seven games (7-8—15). Teammates Jamie Benn (5-6—11) and Jason Spezza (2-9—11) also extended their point streaks to seven and six games, respectively.

* Bruins forward David Krejci collected an assist to stretch his point streak to seven games (3-6—9).

* Avalanche forward Alex Tanguay scored his fourth goal of the season to push his point streak to six games (4-2—6).

LOOSE PUCKS
Knotted at 2-2 after two periods, Erik Karlsson (1-1—2) scored the decisive tally to help the Senators improve to 5-2-1 this season. Robin Lehner made 36 saves to improve to 3-0-1 . . . Bryan Little matched a career high with three assists/points, including his 300th NHL point, to power the Jets to their second straight win . . . Canucks forwards Radim Vrbata (2-4—6) and Henrik Sedin (2-3—5) both extended their point streaks to five games . . . Devils forward Dainius Zubrus scored nine seconds after the opening face-off, marking the second-fastest goal to start a road game in franchise history (0:08; 3x, most recently by Alexander Semak March 9, 1993 at VAN) . . . RED WINGS, CAPITALS TAKE CENTER STAGE
The Red Wings visit the Capitals Wednesday on a national telecast in both the U.S. and Canada (NBCSN, SN360). This marks the first of three meetings between these clubs this season; Washington is 5-1-1 in their last seven matchups, including a 2-0-1 record in 2013-14 and four consecutive victories at Verizon Center (dating to Jan. 31, 2009). Overall, the Capitals return home following a 1-2-0 Western Canada road trip. The Red Wings, meanwhile, have picked up points in five of their last six outings (3-1-2).
