* Auston Matthews joined elite company with his sixth straight 30-goal season and Mitchell Marner extended his goal streak to eight games as the Maple Leafs earned win No. 30 of 2021-22.

* Kevin Fiala can establish the longest point streak in Wild history when Minnesota puts its six-game win streak on the line against Central Division-rival Winnipeg.

* Hockey Hall of Fame member and seven-time gold medal winner Angela James is the latest individual spotlighted in the NHL’s Black Hockey History Highlight.

MATTHEWS, MARNER STAY HOT AS MAPLE LEAFS EARN SIXTH STRAIGHT WIN
Auston Matthews (2-0—2) and Mitchell Marner (2-1—3) each put up multi-point performances for the fifth consecutive game as Toronto (30-10-3, 63 points) earned its 30th win of 2021-22 (43 GP). Matthews and Marner became the fourth duo in Maple Leafs franchise history to record simultaneous multi-point streaks of five games, joining Doug Gilmour and Nikolai Borschevsky (March 20-28, 1993), Glenn Anderson and Gilmour (Jan. 22 – Feb. 1, 1992) as well as Bill Derlago and Rick Vaive (Dec. 16-26, 1981).

* Matthews (31-22—53 in 40 GP) became the third player to score 30 goals in 2021-22 and reached the benchmark for the sixth straight season to begin his career. Only two players in Maple Leafs history have had more consecutive 30-goal campaigns at any time with the franchise: Darryl Sittler (8 from 1973-74 to 1980-81) and Rick Vaive (7 from 1980-81 to 1986-87).



* Matthews (24 years, 143 days) also became the eighth player in NHL history to record six or more 30-goal seasons before age 25 (age at time of 30th goal), joining Dale Hawerchuk (7), Wayne Gretzky (7), Jaromir Jagr (6), Pierre Turgeon (6), Mario Lemieux (6), Steve Yzerman (6) and Bryan Trottier (6).

* Marner, meanwhile, became the fifth player in franchise history to register a goal streak of at least eight games and just the fourth in the NHL’s modern era (since 1943-44), joining John Anderson (10 GP in 1984-85), Sittler (9 GP in 1977-78) and Lorne Carr (9 GP in 1943-44).

BLACK HOCKEY HISTORY HIGHLIGHT: ANGELA JAMES
Angela James made history in 2010 by becoming one of the first women inducted into the Hockey Hall of Fame. James' career began at a young age playing in a boys novice league. Her playing ability often far exceeded her peers so she played for teams with much older players. Over the course of her 30-year career, James was named MVP on numerous occasions and won seven gold medals in women's hockey.

ON TAP FOR TUESDAY: WILD STREAKS ON THE LINE
Minnesota enters Tuesday tied for the NHL’s longest active win streak (6-0-0 dating to Jan. 21), while Kevin Fiala can establish the longest point streak in franchise history. The Wild (28-10-3, 59 points) occupy third in the Central Division and can move past the idle Predators (28-14-4, 60 points) when they visit the Jets (18-17-7, 43 points) at Canada Life Centre.



* Minnesota can register its seventh win streak of seven or more games in franchise history and third in the past two seasons (also 8 GP in 2021-22 & 7 GP in 2020-21).

* Fiala, with points in each of his past 12 games dating to Dec. 20, 2021 (9-7—16), can become the fifth player to record a point streak of at least 13 games this season.
