THREE HARD LAPS

* He did it again! Teenager Andrei Svechnikov scored his second lacrosse-style goal of the season despite being just 34 games into the campaign.

* Wells Fargo Center was #OskarStrong Tuesday as the Flyers earned their first win since learning that forward Oskar Lindblom was diagnosed with a rare bone cancer.

* Evgeni Malkin joined several elite lists with the 400th regular-season goal of his NHL career.

MUST SEE: SVECHNIKOV SCORES ANOTHER LACROSSE-STYLE GOAL
Hurricanes forward Andrei Svechnikov, 19, scored a highlight-reel lacrosse-style goal from behind the Winnipeg net – his second such tally of the season with the first occurring on Oct. 29 against Calgary.

* Click here for a compilation video of the more notable lacrosse-style goals from around the world, including Svechnikov’s from the first month of the season.

FLYERS EARN EMOTIONAL WIN AT WELLS FARGO CENTER
The Flyers defeated the Ducks in their first home game since learning that forward Oskar Lindblom was diagnosed with Ewing's sarcoma. Philadelphia had Lindblom’s stall set up in its dressing room to honor the 23-year-old, who visited with his teammates and coaches on Tuesday morning for the first time since his diagnosis.

PREDATORS SNAP ISLANDERS’ HOME STREAK IN 2,500TH GAME FOR LAMORIELLO
The Predators scored a season-high eight goals to snap the Islanders’ home point streak at 13 contests (12-0-1) in the 2,500th career regular-season game for their opponent’s general manager, Lou Lamoriello. Only two other general managers in NHL history have served as many regular-season contests, including Lamoriello’s counterpart Tuesday: David Poile (2,819 GP) and Glen Sather (2,700 GP).

* Poile, the winningest general manager in League history, moved within four regular-season victories of becoming the first to record 1,400 (1,396-1,073-350, 3,142 points). He has earned 802 of his career wins with Nashville (802-619-218, 1,822 points) and 594 with Washington (594-454-132, 1,320 points), where he was general manager from Aug. 30, 1982 – June 9, 1997.

* The Predators, who scored eight goals in a game for the first time since Nov. 18, 2014 (9-2 W at TOR), became the first team to earn a regulation road win versus the Islanders since Edmonton on Oct. 8 (5-2 W). Nashville snapped an opponent’s home point streak of 13 or more games for the first time in franchise history.

MALKIN REACHES 400-GOAL MILESTONE IN WIN
Penguins forward Evgeni Malkin (1-1—2) scored the 400th regular-season goal of his NHL career (400-631—1,031 in 873 GP) and became the seventh player of Russian nationality in League history to reach the milestone.

* Malkin, who was chosen second overall by Pittsburgh in the 2004 NHL Draft, became the fourth player in franchise history to score 400 or more goals with the Penguins – joining Mario Lemieux (690-1,033—1,723 in 915 GP), Sidney Crosby (451-782—1,233 in 960 GP) and Jaromir Jagr (439-640—1,079 in 806 GP).

* Malkin became the second player from his draft class to reach 400 goals, joining No. 1 pick and fellow countryman Alex Ovechkin (679-565—1,244 in 1,119 GP). The 2004 NHL Draft class became the fourth where the first two picks each reached the 400-goal milestone, joining 1971 (Guy Lafleur and Marcel Dionne), 1987 (Pierre Turgeon and Brendan Shanahan) as well as 1997 (Joe Thornton and Patrick Marleau).

* Pittsburgh extended its win streak to three games and improved to 6-1-0 (12 points) in December, owning a share of the most wins among all teams this month (w/ VGK).

MATTHEWS SCORES TWICE TO ECLIPSE 20-GOAL MARK
Maple Leafs forward Auston Matthews scored twice to eclipse the 20-goal mark for the fourth time in as many NHL seasons (21-15—36 in 35 GP). He became the second player in franchise history to score 20 or more goals in each of his first four NHL campaigns (all w/ TOR), joining Maple Leafs legend Dave Keon who did so in his first six from 1960-61 to 1965-66.

* Matthews recorded his 25th career multi-goal game in the regular season since debuting in 2016-17, the second-most among all players over that span behind Capitals captain Alex Ovechkin (29). Only one U.S.-born player in League history has recorded more multi-goal games through their first four NHL seasons than Matthews.

OTHER U.S.-BORN PLAYERS CONTINUE TO ROLL
Other U.S.-born players continued recent strings of success in addition to Auston Matthews:

* Sabres captain Jack Eichel (North Chelmsford, Mass.) collected 1-1—2 to extend his career-high point streak to 17 games (16-15—31) and became the fifth player to reach the 50-point mark this season (24-26—50 in 35 GP). He became the first Buffalo player to reach 50 points in 35 or fewer games since 1992-93, when Pat LaFontaine (20-30—50 in 27 GP) and Alexander Mogilny (33-21—54 in 31 GP) combined for the feat.

* Blue Jackets forward Cam Atkinson (Riverside, Conn.) posted 1-1—2 and has scored five goals over his last seven games (5-1—6 in 7 GP), after recording just four through his first 27 outings of the season (4-11—15 in 27 GP). Golden Knights forward and fellow Connecticut native Max Pacioretty (New Canaan, Conn.) registered an assist to extend his point streak to five games (5-4—9).

DID YOU KNOW?
Two of the NHL’s nine 20-goal scorers this season are U.S.-born (Jack Eichel and Auston Matthews), the most through the first 534 games in a campaign since 1998-99 (John LeClair, Tony Amonte and Shawn McEachern).
