THREE HARD LAPS

* David Pastrnak and the Bruins overcame a multi-goal deficit to win the 2019 NHL Thanksgiving Showdown. Pastrnak became the fourth player in NHL history to score 12 or more goals in each of the first two months of the season.

* The Capitals and Sabres also staged multi-goal comebacks to survive high-scoring affairs. Washington’s five such wins lead all teams in 2019-20.

* Nathan MacKinnon is one of seven players with 20 points since Nov. 1. November 2019 is one of five months in the last decade to feature at least seven players with 20 points in the calendar month – MacKinnon played a part in three.

PASTRNAK HELPS BRUINS RALLY OVER RANGERS IN THANKSGIVING SHOWDOWN

David Pastrnak (1-1—2) tied the game in the third period and made a highlight-reel play to set up David Krejci’s overtime winner as the Bruins rallied from a 2-0 deficit to defeat the Rangers in the 2019 NHL Thanksgiving Showdown.

* Pastrnak (24-17—41 in 26 GP) leads the League with 24 goals, highlighted by a dozen in each of October and November.

* Wayne Gretzky is the only player in NHL history to do so in each of his first three or more months to begin a season.

* Three days after Brad Marchand recorded his 40th point of 2019-20 (24 GP), Pastrnak joined his teammate at the benchmark on Friday. The pair of Bruins join Edmonton’s high-scoring duo of Leon Draisaitl and Connor McDavid among players with 40 points this season.

* This marks the first time the NHL has featured four players with 40 or more points through the first two months of the season since five players did so in 1992-93: Mario Lemieux (29-36—65 w/ PIT), Pat LaFontaine (18-29—47 w/ BUF), Jari Kurri (16-31—47 w/ LAK), Mark Recchi (16-29—45 w/ PHI) and Joe Sakic (20-21—41 w/ QUE).

* The Bruins extended their overall point streak to 7-0-3 dating to Nov. 10 vs. the Flyers – their second double digit point streak of 2019-20 (also 8-0-2 from Oct. 12 to Nov. 4). Boston became the third team in NHL history to post multiple point streaks of 10 or more games within their first 30 games of a season. The others: St. Louis in 2000-01 (10 GP and 10 GP) and Buffalo in 1974-75 (10 GP and 11 GP).

* Boston extended its season-opening home point streak to 14 contests (10-0-4), including three multi-goal comeback wins over that stretch – two of which have come in the Bruins’ last two games on home ice (also Nov. 23 vs. MIN).

CAPITALS, SABRES ALSO RALLY FROM TWO DOWN TO WIN
The League-leading Capitals (18-4-5, 41 points) and the Sabres (12-10-4, 28 points) also posted multi-goal comeback wins Friday:

* Alex Ovechkin scored the game-tying goal and Dmitry Orlov (1-1—2) netted the winner in overtime as the Capitals (18-4-5, 41 points) reached the 40-point mark and recorded their League-leading fifth multi-goal comeback win of the season. Washington (27 GP) required the second fewest games to reach 40 standings points in franchise history, one more than 2015-16 (26 GP).

* Ovechkin (17-10—27 in 27 GP) found the back of the net for the second time in as many games. It marked his 455th career regular-season power-play goal, matching Teemu Selanne for third on the League’s all-time list. Only Dave Andreychuk (274) and Brett Hull (265) have more.

* Sabres captain Jack Eichel (2-1—3) factored on three of six Buffalo goals to help the Sabres overcome an early 2-0 deficit and snap their five-game winless stretch against Toronto. Eichel extended his point streak to eight games (7-6—13) and has 12 goals in 14 career games against the Maple Leafs – his highest such total against any franchise.

* Victor Olofsson has collected at least one point in 10 of his last 11 contests, including goals in consecutive games, and leads all rookies with 10 goals in 2019-20 (10-10—20). Only two Sabres players have been the first rookie to 10 goals in a season: Richard Martin (1971-72) and Gilbert Perreault (1970-71).

* Including the three on Friday, there have been 55 instances of a team rallying from a multi-goal deficit to win in 2019-20 – only three seasons in NHL history have seen more multi-goal comebacks through 402 games (57 in 1985-86, 56 in 2018-19 and 56 in 1986-87).

MacKINNON, MAKAR CONTINUE MONUMENTAL MONTHS
Nathan MacKinnon (1-3—4) factored on four of five Avalanche goals and Cale Makar (1-0—1) netted his third game-winning goal of the season as Colorado was one of five teams to score at least five goals Friday.

* MacKinnon, who extended his point streak to six games with his third four-point game of the season, is one of seven players with at least 20 points since Nov. 1.

* November 2019 is one of five months in the last decade to feature at least seven players with 20 points in the calendar month – MacKinnon has played a part in three (Nov. 2019, Nov. 2018 and March 2018).

* Makar leads all rookies in points this season (8-18—26 in 25 GP). Only two other rookie defensemen in the NHL’s expansion era (since 1967-68) have scored at least eight goals through their first 25 games of their career: Brad Maxwell (8-5—13 in 1977-78 w/ MNS) and Barry Beck (11-10—21 in 1977-78 w/ CLR).

* The fourth-overall pick in the 2017 NHL Draft has also tallied three game-winning goals in 2019-20, tied with Aaron Miller for the most in a single season by a rookie defenseman in Avalanche/Nordiques history.

WILD, FLYERS LIGHT THE LAMP TO EXTEND HOME STREAKS
The Wild scored a season-high seven goals and the Flyers found the back of the net six times as both teams extended home point streaks. Minnesota extended its home point streak to eight games (6-0-2), while Philadelphia recorded a point for the 10th consecutive game at Wells Fargo Center (6-0-4).

* Skating in his 1,200th career regular-season game, Eric Staal (1-1—2) factored on two of seven Wild goals as Minnesota extended its home point streak to eight games dating to Oct. 20 (4-3 W vs. MTL). It marks the team’s longest home point streak since a franchise-record 13-game stretch from Dec. 27, 2017-Feb. 13, 2018 (10-0-3).

* Staal (425-568—993) now sits seven points shy of reaching the 1,000-point milestone. He can become the sixth active player to reach the mark joining Joe Thornton (1,487), Alex Ovechkin (1,238), Sidney Crosby (1,233), Patrick Marleau (1,177) and Evgeni Malkin (1,023).

* Jakub Voracek (0-3—3) recorded his 17th career game with at least three assists as the Flyers scored six goals to extend their home point streak 10 games dating to Oct. 21 (6-2 W vs. VGK).

* Philadelphia has accumulated the most points in the month of November among Eastern Conference clubs (9-2-4, 22 points). The team travels to Montreal Saturday with their sights set on recording their fourth 10-win month in the last decade. The others: Feb. 2018 (10-1-2), March 2012 (11-3-2) and Jan. 2011 (10-2-0).

AROUND THE RINKS

* Blackhawks forward Patrick Kane extended his point streak to 14 games (10-13—23) – the longest by any player in 2019-20. It is the fourth time in his career he has recorded a point streak of 14 or more games. The others: 26 GP in 2015-16 (16-24—40), 20 GP in 2018-19 (17-26—43) and 14 GP in 2013-14 (8-17—25).

* Ryan O’Reilly responded 18 seconds after the Stars tied the game in the third period to help the Blues extend their road point streak to nine contests (7-0-2), tying the second longest run in franchise history (7-0-2 in 2013-14). They sit two shy of the franchise record, established in 1999-00 (10-0-1).

* Brayden Point opened the scoring for Tampa Bay Friday to boost his career totals to 100-116—215 in 249 GP. He required the second fewest games to reach the 100-goal milestone with the Lightning, trailing only Steven Stamkos (194 GP).

* Connor Hellebuyck posted his 16th career shutout (all w/ WPG) as the Jets improved to 10-2-1 in November and sit tied with the Stars (10-2-1) for the most wins this calendar month. Hellebuyck’s 16 shutout performances sit second to Ondrej Pavelec (17) in Jets / Thrashers history.

* Pekka Rinne turned aside all 31 shots he faced to record his 58th career shutout (all w/ NSH). Since Rinne entered the League in 2005-06, Henrik Lundqvist (63 w/ NYR) is the only goaltender with more.

* Gustav Nyquist netted his second career regular-season hat trick (also Feb. 2, 2014) as the Blue Jackets earned their fifth win in seven contests. The 30-year-old forward registered the NHL’s 22nd hat trick of 2019-20.
