STREAKING ISLANDERS, STARS AIM TO EXTEND RUNS
The Islanders (15-0-1 since Oct. 12) and Stars (9-0-1 since Oct. 29) aim to extend their double-digit point streaks when they take on the Sharks and Blackhawks, respectively.

* New York, which owns the longest point streak in franchise history, can become the third different team over the last four seasons to go 17 or more consecutive games without a regulation loss. The Islanders would join the Blue Jackets from Nov. 25, 2016 – Jan. 3, 2017 (17-0-1) as well as the Bruins from Dec. 16, 2017 – Jan. 25, 2018 (14-0-4) and Jan. 29 – March 9, 2019 (15-0-4).

* Dallas can record a point streak of 11 or more games for the eighth time in franchise history and first since Feb. 21 – March 13, 2012 (10-0-1).



KEEFE CAN JOIN RARE COMPANY AS SEVERAL PLAYERS FACE FORMER TEAM
Sheldon Keefe, who was named Toronto head coach Wednesday, can become the fourth in franchise history to win each of his first two games behind the bench (NHL debut or otherwise) when the Maple Leafs visit the Avalanche at Pepsi Center. He would join Pat Quinn (3-0-0 in 1998-99), George O’Donoghue (2-0-0 in 1921-22) and Dan Maloney (2-0-0 in 1984-85).

* Maple Leafs defenseman Tyson Barrie, the all-time leader in regular-season goals, assists and points by an Avalanche/Nordiques blueliner (75-232—307 in 484 GP), is set to face his former team for the first time since being traded to Toronto by Colorado on July 1, 2019. Avalanche forward Nazem Kadri and Maple Leafs forward Alexander Kerfoot, who were involved in the trade, are also expected to face their former club for the first time.

* While Barrie led Avalanche defensemen in scoring in 2018-19 (14-45—59 in 78 GP), rookie Cale Makar has taken over as Colorado’s leading point producer from the blueline this season with 7-18—25 through the first 22 regular-season games of his NHL career. Makar has recorded 6-9—15 in 10 contests since Nov. 1 and can become the 10th rookie defenseman in NHL history with 16 or more points in any calendar month (and second with a Colorado-based team).
