THREE HARD LAPS

* Boston’s offense continued to produce as Brad Marchand became the sixth different player since 1986-87, and first-ever Bruins skater, to record two five-point outings through 14 games.

* Defensemen Roman Josi and Ryan Ellis continued their point-per-game pace as the Predators were one of three winning teams to score six goals Monday.

* Darcy Kuemper (26 saves), Derek Stepan (OTG) and the Coyotes managed to hold off Connor McDavid and Oilers, while earning their fourth win in five contests.

MARCHAND NETS FRANCHISE FIRST WITH SECOND FIVE-POINT OUTING
After the Penguins scored four consecutive goals to erase a 3-0 deficit, Brad Marchand (2-3—5) factored on three straight goals to record his second five-point outing of the season and help the Bruins extend their point streak to 10 contests (8-0-2).

* Marchand, who became the first player in Bruins history to record multiple five-point performances through his team’s first 14 games, recorded just the 10th instance of a player doing so since 1986-87.

* Marchand and David Pastrnak (1-1—2) became the fourth set of Boston teammates to post simultaneous season-opening home point streaks of at least 8 games and just the fourth set of any teammates to do so in the last 25 years. The others: Nikita Kucherov and Steven Stamkos (8 GP w/ TBL in 2017-18), Dany Heatley, Jason Spezza and Daniel Alfredsson (8 GP w/ OTT in 2005-06) as well as Mario Lemieux, Ron Francis and Jaromir Jagr (9 GP w/ PIT in 1995-96).

* With yet another offensive outburst, Marchand (10-18—28 in 14 GP) and Pastrnak (14-15—29 in 14 GP) joined Leon Draisaitl (13-14—27 in 16 GP) and James Neal (11-2—13 in 16 GP) as the second set of teammates to each score at least 10 goals in 2019-20. Only one season in Bruins history has featured two 10-goal scorers prior to the team’s 14th game: 1973-74 (Phil Esposito and Ken Hodge in 11 GP).

* Pastrnak (14-15—29 in 12 GP) factored on Marchand’s first goal of the contest to extend his point streak to 12 contests, matching his career high from Nov. 22 – Dec. 18, 2017 (5-9—14 in 12 GP). He joined Sidney Crosby (3), Evgeni Malkin (3) and Nathan MacKinnon (2) as just the fourth active player to post multiple point streaks of at least 12 games before his 24th birthday.

* Marchand and Pastrnak, with eight and nine multi-point games, respectively, became just the second set of Bruins teammates to each record at least eight such outings through the team’s first 14 games of a season. The other: Phil Esposito (9) and Bobby Orr (8) in 1974-75.

PREDATORS PUSH PAST RED WINGS WITH SIX-GOAL PERFORMANCE. . .

Matt Duchene (2-0—2), Roman Josi (0-2—2) and Filip Forsberg (1-1—2) each posted multi-point outings as the Predators scored six goals and defeated the Red Wings for just the second time in 12 contests (NSH: 2-8-2 dating to Jan. 17, 2015).

* Defensemen Josi (5-11—16) and Ryan Ellis (2-13—15) continue to lead the Predators in scoring this season and have averaged 1.07 and 1.00 points per game, respectively. The 2019-20 campaign marks the first time in franchise history that two defensemen have produced at a point-per-game pace through 15 contests.

* Outside of Nashville, only three different teams since 1991-92 have featured multiple defensemen accomplish the feat.

* Pekka Rinne (23 saves) improved to 8-0-2 through 10 games this season (2.07 GAA, .923 SV%, 2 SO) and became the first goaltender in NHL history to post a season-opening point streak of at least 10 games at 36 or older.

. . . WHILE SENATORS ALSO SCORE SIX IN FIRST ROAD WIN

Brady Tkachuk (1-1—2), Vladislav Namestnikov (1-1—2) and Jean-Gabriel Pageau (2-0—2) each collected multiple points as the Senators scored a season-high six goals to earn their first road win of 2019-20.

* Thirty-eight-year-old Ron Hainsey and 20-year-old Tkachuk scored 10:44 apart to help the Senators establish a four-goal cushion. The duo registered the second-largest age difference between two Senators goal scorers in a single game in franchise history.

* Hainsey (38 years, 225 days) became the oldest Senators defenseman to score a game-winning goal since Sergei Gonchar (39 years, 12 days) on Apr. 25, 2013, who also stands as the oldest blueliner to score a game-winning goal for the franchise.

PREVIEW OF TODAY’S ACTION

CHARA SET FOR 1,500TH REGULAR-SEASON GAME

Bruins captain Zdeno Chara is set to become the 21st player in NHL history to skate in 1,500 career regular-season games when the Bruins visit their Original Six rivals in Montreal. The Sharks duo of Patrick Marleau (1,668 GP) and Joe Thornton (1,581) are the only active skaters to have reached the milestone.

* In addition to Jaromir Jagr (1,733 GP) of the Czech Republic and Nicklas Lidstrom (1,564 GP) of Sweden, Chara (Trencin, Slovakia) will become the third skater born outside of North America to reach the 1,500-game milestone.

* Chara will become just the sixth defenseman to skate in 1,500 career games – the previous five have all been inducted into the Hockey Hall of Fame.

ISLANDERS AIM FOR 10TH CONSECUTIVE WIN

The Islanders will look to secure the franchise’s second winning streak of 10 or more games when they host the Senators at Barclays Center. The only double-digit winning streak in franchise history was a 15-game run from Jan. 21 – Feb. 20, 1982 (15-0-0).

* In 2018-19, three teams were able to put a 10-game winning streak together: St. Louis (11-0-0 from Jan. 23 – Feb. 19, 2019), Buffalo (10-0-0 from Nov. 8-27, 2018) and Tampa Bay (10-0-0 from Feb. 9-27, 2019).

* Over the last 10 seasons (since 2009-10), 91.6% of all teams who have registered a 10-game winning streak in the regular season have gone on to earn a playoff spot (22 of 24).

* Islanders forward Derick Brassard enters the contest having scored in each of his last five games (5-1—6 in 5 GP), the longest in the NHL. The last Islanders skater to post a goal streak of six games or longer was Michael Grabner in 2010-11 (10-3—13 in 6 GP).

HOTTEST TEAMS IN THE WEST MEET IN VANCOUVER

The two hottest teams in the Western Conference will face off in Vancouver when the Canucks put their seven-game point streak (5-0-2) on the line against the visiting Blues – winners of four consecutive games.

* The Canucks (9-3-2, 20 points), who can win 10 of their first 15 games of a season for the sixth time in franchise history, will look to register a point streak of eight or more games for the first time since 2013-14 (7-0-1 from Dec. 1-17, 2013).

* The Central Division-leading Blues (9-3-3, 21 points), look to extend their winning streak to five games. In 2018-19, St. Louis posted an 11-game winning streak from Jan. 23 – Feb. 19 that helped catapult them from 12th in the conference and outside the playoff picture at the start of the streak to fifth in the conference and third in the Central Division at the end of the 11-game run.
