MAPLE LEAFS RIDE EVEN-STRENGTH ATTACK TO VICTORY

The Senators rallied from a multi-goal deficit to tie the game with a pair of goals in the first 3:59 of the third period, before Morgan Rielly answered with his fourth game-winning goal of the season - Toronto’s fifth even-strength goal of the contest - to lead the Maple Leafs (33-17-3, 69 points) to their third straight win.

* The Maple Leafs lead the League with 160 even-strength goals this season, 13 more than the next closest club. John Tavares (1-1—2) tops Toronto with 26 even-strength goals, one shy of Alex Ovechkin (27) for the League lead in 2018-19.

* Toronto has concluded a season leading all teams in even-strength goals only once in the NHL’s expansion era (since 1967-68), doing so in 1998-99 when they scored 208. Mats Sundin and Sergei Berezin shared the team lead with 27 even-strength goals each that season, which saw the Maple Leafs reach the Eastern Conference Final before falling to the Sabres.

* Rielly improved his season totals to 14-39—53 in 53 games to set a new career high for points, besting last season’s total (6-46—52 in 76 GP). He is the first Maple Leafs defenseman to score 14 goals in a season since Pavel Kubina in 2008-09 (14 in 82 GP) and first Toronto blueliner to record four game-winning goals in a season since Kubina in 2008-09 (4).

* Rielly is averaging 1.00 points per game in 2018-19. Only one Maple Leafs blueliner (min. 20 GP) has finished a season averaging 1.00 P/GP or higher in the NHL’s expansion era (since 1967-68): Borje Salming (1.03 P/GP in 1976-77).

* Mitch Marner (20-45—65) recorded a pair of helpers to hit the 45-assist mark for the second consecutive season. In doing so, he became the first Maple Leafs player to record consecutive 45-assist seasons since Sundin and Tomas Kaberle, who each accomplished the feat in three straight campaigns from 2005-06 to 2007-08.

RANGERS AUTHOR THIRD PERIOD, MULTI-GOAL COMEBACK

Kevin Hayes and Filip Chytil each scored in the third period to erase a two-goal deficit and Tony DeAngelo (0-1—1) notched the deciding goal in the seventh round of the shootout to lift the Rangers (23-22-8, 54 points) to victory.

* The Rangers rallied from a two-goal deficit in the third period to win for the first time this season. New York accomplished the feat twice in 2017-18: Oct. 31, 2017 and March 14, 2018.

* This marked the 27th time in 2018-19 a team has rallied from a multi-goal deficit in the third period to win in any fashion – tied for the eighth highest total through 822 games of a season in NHL history and the highest such total since 2014-15 (29 in 822 GP).

* In 2018-19, there have been 102 instances of a team rallying from a multi-goal deficit at any point to win. Only two other NHL campaigns have seen as many such comebacks through 822 games: 1985-86 (117) and 1987-88 (102).

FLYERS LOOK TO EXTEND WINNING STREAK TO NINE GAMES
Carter Hart and the Flyers (24-23-6, 54 points) welcome the Kings (22-27-4, 48 points) to Wells Fargo Center Thursday with their sights set on extending the League’s longest active win streak to nine contests.

* Hart, who has won seven straight outings as part of the Flyers’ streak, has allowed three or fewer goals in five of those outings (2.40 GAA and .934 SV%). Only one goaltender in NHL history has won eight straight starts prior to his 21st birthday: Jocelyn Thibault (March 6-26, 1995 w/ QUE).

* When Philadelphia’s current win streak started on Jan. 14, they were last in the overall NHL standings (16-23-6, 38 points) and 15 points back of a playoff position. The Flyers have since leapfrogged five teams in the Eastern Conference and sit seven points back of a postseason spot.

* The Flyers are the 12th team in NHL history to record both a winless stretch of eight or more games (0-6-2 from Dec. 27 - Jan. 8) and a winning streak of eight or more contests in the same season. Nine of the previous 11 clubs to do so reached the playoffs.

* Streaks have been a familiar part of the Flyers’ story over each of the past three campaigns. In 2017-18, the Flyers became the fourth team in NHL history to rebound from a winless streak of at least 10 games (0-5-5 from Nov. 11 - Dec. 2, 2017) and make the playoffs. Contrarily, in 2016-17, Philadelphia won 10 straight before falling short of a playoff spot - the only team ever to do so.

STARS, BLACKHAWKS AIM TO PUSH WINNING STREAKS TO SIX
Blackhawks forward Patrick Kane and Stars forward Tyler Seguin each look to continue their recent strings of success as their clubs eye a sixth consecutive victory on Thursday. It would mark Chicago’s first six-game winning streak since a seven-game run from Feb. 19 - March 4, 2017 and Dallas’ first such stretch since March 2-13, 2012 (6-0-0).

* Kane currently boasts the NHL’s longest active point streak at 12 games (10-18—28). He can become the sixth player to record a point streak of 13 games or more in 2018-19, a list paced by Panthers forward Mike Hoffman (17 GP from Oct. 13 - Nov. 21).

* There have been 18 campaigns in NHL history to feature six or more point streaks of at least 13 contests, with the last such occurrence in 2007-08: Sidney Crosby (19 GP), Henrik Zetterberg (17 GP), J-P Dumont (16 GP), Evgeni Malkin (15 GP), Ryan Getzlaf (15 GP) and Scott Gomez (13 GP).

* The Blackhawks are one of three teams currently within seven points of a playoff position that have occupied last place in the entire League in the 2019 calendar year. Chicago was in last place overall from Jan. 17-19, while St. Louis (Jan. 2) and Philadelphia (Jan. 9 and Jan. 12-13) also spent time as the No. 31 seed before recent hot streaks.

* In the expansion era, only six teams have made the playoffs after occupying last place in the League after their 20th game of the season: the 1976-77 North Stars, 1979-80 Oilers, 1982-83 Maple Leafs, 1987-88 Kings, 1987-88 Maple Leafs and 1996-97 Senators.

* The Stars, who currently hold the third seed in the Central Division, have been led by Seguin’s seven points (5-2—7) over the course of their five-game run. Seguin has recorded 11-5—16 in 13 GP since Jan. 1, with Predators forward Viktor Arvidsson (12 G in 15 GP) the only player to score more goals in the 2019 calendar year.
