HART SHINES AGAIN AS FLYERS EXTEND STREAK, PICK UP 2,000TH WIN

Carter Hart made 41 saves to improve to 7-0-0 over his last seven appearances and lift the Flyers to their eighth consecutive victory dating to Jan. 14, marking the 2,000th regular-season win in franchise history. Philadelphia extended the League’s longest active win streak and matched the second-longest such run in the NHL this season, trailing only Buffalo’s 10-0-0 stretch from Nov. 8-27.

* Hart became the fourth goaltender in NHL history to record seven or more consecutive wins before his 21st birthday. Philadelphia’s 20-year-old netminder now sits one game shy of matching Jocelyn Thibault for the longest such streak in NHL history.

* Hart became the fourth rookie goaltender in franchise history to post a personal win streak of seven or more games, joining Pelle Lindbergh (9-0-0 in 1982-83), Bob Froese (8-0-0 in 1982-83) and Pete Peeters (7-0-0 in 1979-80). There have been 17 different rookie goaltenders in NHL history that have won eight or more consecutive appearances, with Martin Jones the last to do so in 2013-14 with the Kings (8-0-0).

* Overall, Hart improved to 10-5-1 in 16 career appearances. Since 1990-91, only five NHL goaltenders have recorded more wins before age 21:Steve Mason (33), Thibault (28), Carey Price (24), Dan Blackburn (20) and Jim Carey (18).

* Philadelphia, who had an 0-6-2 run from Dec. 27 - Jan. 8, are the 12th team in NHL history to record both a winning streak and winless streak of at least eight games each in the same season. Nine of the previous 11 clubs to do so reached the playoffs.

* The Flyers, who entered the League in 1967-68, became the first non-Original Six team to hit the 2,000 win milestone. They required 4,017 games to reach the plateau, the second-fewest in League history behind the Canadiens, who accomplished the feat in their 3,767th game on Feb. 11, 1982.

STARS, COYOTES EACH NET QUICK GOALS IN HIGH-SCORING THIRD PERIOD

Trailing by a goal to start the third period, the Stars scored three times in a span of 71 seconds to take the lead and surrendered two Coyotes goals 61 seconds apart before Tyler Seguin (1-1—2) put Dallas ahead for good with his fifth game-winning goal of the season. All six goals in the final frame came during a 10-minute span.

* Jamie Benn (0-2—2) and Miro Heiskanen (0-2—2) also recorded multiple points for the Stars, who improved to 5-0-0 in their past five outings to extend the second-longest active winning streak in the NHL (behind the Flyers). Dallas last won six or more consecutive games from March 2-13, 2012 (6-0-0).

* Dallas also improved to 12-0-0 at home against the Coyotes dating to March 20, 2012, the NHL’s fourth-longest active home winning streak against one opponent. The only active such runs that are longer: the Penguins are 18-0-0 at home vs. WPG/ATL dating to March 24, 2007; the Rangers are 16-0-0 at home vs. CAR dating to Jan. 5, 2011; and the Flyers are 15-0-0 at home vs. CHI dating to March 31, 1998.

ZIBANEJAD STAYS HOT TO JOIN SHORT LIST WITH NHL’S ELITE

Mika Zibanejad (1-1—2) factored on each of the Rangers’ first two tallies to become the ninth different player in NHL history with a point on 10 or more consecutive team goals. Only four players in League history have recorded a point on more than 10 consecutive team goals, a list topped by Jaromir Jagr, who notched a point on 15 straight Penguins goals from Oct. 16 - Nov. 4, 1999 (7-8—15).

* Zibanejad became the second player to have such a run this season (following Winnipeg’s Blake Wheeler: 1-9—10 from Nov. 1-9) and the third to factor on at least nine straight team goals in 2018-19 (also Edmonton’s Connor McDavid: 4-5—9 from Oct. 6-16). McDavid’s streak made him the first player in NHL history to factor on nine consecutive team goals to start a season.

* Zibanejad has registered a point in nine of eleven contests since Jan. 8 (10-8—18 in 11 GP), including five multi-point games. The only player with more points in that span is Chicago’s Patrick Kane (7-13—20 in 8 GP).

* In just his 52nd game of 2018-19, Zibanejad established a career high for assists (31) and points (52) in a season. He also sits six goals shy of matching his career best of 27 set in 2017-18 (72 GP). Zibanejad (62-74—136 in 180 GP) trails only Mats Zuccarello (40-101—141 in 198 GP) for the most points among Rangers since joining the club to start the 2016-17 season.

KANE LOOKS TO PUSH POINT STREAK TO A DOZEN GAMES

Blackhawks forward Patrick Kane, who ranks tied for second in the NHL with 31-45—76 in 52 games, puts his 11-game point streak on the line when Chicago visits Edmonton. Oilers forward Connor McDavid (31-45—76 in 51 GP) is the player tied with Kane for second in League scoring, behind only Nikita Kucherov (22-58—80 in 52 GP).

* Kane, who holds the longest point streak in franchise history at 26 games (16-24—40 from Oct. 17 – Dec. 13, 2015), can record a point streak of 12 or more games for the fourth time in his career. Denis Savard (8x) and Bobby Hull (5x) are the only Blackhawks players with more than four 12-game point streaks. Penguins forward Sidney Crosby (4x) is the only active skater with at least four career point streaks of 12 or more games.

BERGERON TO BECOME FIFTH BRUIN TO APPEAR IN 1,000 GAMES

Patrice Bergeron is expected to play in his 1,000th career NHL game on Tuesday. He will become the fifth player in franchise history to appear in 1,000 games with the Bruins, joining Ray Bourque (1,518), Johnny Bucyk (1,436), Don Sweeney (1,052) and Wayne Cashman (1,027).

* The 33-year-old has spent his entire career with Boston since being selected 45th overall by the club in the 2003 NHL Draft. A Stanley Cup champion and four-time Selke Trophy winner known for his two-way game, Bergeron ranks in the top 10 in franchise history for goals (305; 6th), assists (473; 7th) and points (778; 7th).

MAURICE TO BECOME YOUNGEST HEAD COACH TO HIT 1,500 GAMES

Winnipeg’s Paul Maurice is set to become the sixth head coach in League history – and third active – to serve 1,500 games behind an NHL bench (682-605-212 in 1,499 games). At age 52, Maurice will become the youngest ever to reach the milestone.
