OVECHKIN CLIMBS ALL-TIME GOALS LIST AS CAPITALS EXTEND WIN STREAK

Alex Ovechkin scored one of four Washington goals to help the Metropolitan Division-leading Capitals (14-7-3, 31 points) extend their win streak to six games. He scored the 625th goal of his NHL career to tie Jarome Iginla and Joe Sakic for 15th place on the League’s all-time list.

BLUE JACKETS, RED WINGS COMBINE FOR 12 GOALS
Twelve different Columbus skaters collected at least one point as the Blue Jackets edged the Red Wings in a contest which featured 12 combined goals. Columbus scored at least seven goals in a game for the third time in 2018-19 (also 7-4 W on Oct. 25 at STL and 7-3 W on Nov. 15 vs. FLA), tied for the highest such total among all teams this season (w/ TBL).

* Cam Atkinson (0-1—1) extended his point streak to eight games (9-5—14), one shy of his career high set from Dec. 5-23, 2016 (7-7—14 in 9 GP) and matched from March 19 – April 5, 2018 (8-5—13 in 9 GP). His eight-game point streak is tied for the longest active run in the NHL (w/Phil Kessel).

* Did You Know? Monday’s contest between the Blue Jackets and Red Wings was the 36th to feature at least 10 combined goals in 2018-19 (including shootout-deciding goals), the highest such total through the first 366 games of a season since 1995-96 (49).

YANDLE, MARLEAU CLIMB ALL-TIME GAMES PLAYED LISTS

* Panthers defenseman Keith Yandle, who owns the League’s longest active “Ironman” streak, skated in his 737th consecutive regular-season NHL game dating to March 26, 2009. He tied Jay Bouwmeester (737 GP; March 6, 2004 – Nov. 22, 2014) for the sixth-longest consecutive games played streak in League history.

* Maple Leafs forward Patrick Marleau (0-1—1) skated in the 1,600th regular-season game of his NHL career and became the 11th player in League history to reach the milestone. Marleau (540-603—1,143), who recorded his 600th assist earlier this season, became the only active player to achieve the feat.

ALSO OF NOTE . . .

* Florida overcame deficits of 2-0 and 3-2 before Mike Hoffman scored the overtime winner as the Panthers improved to 6-0-0 in their last six home games against the Devils dating to April 11, 2015 (NJD: 0-3-3). There have been 52 instances of a team overcoming a multi-goal deficit to win a game in 2018-19, the highest such total through the first 366 games of a season in NHL history.

* Bruins forward David Pastrnak scored his 18th and 19th goals of the season to move into a share of the League lead and boost his totals to 15-14—29 in 20 career games against Toronto (1.45 P/GP, regular season and playoffs combined). His career points per game average of 1.45 trails only two Bruins players for the highest such total against the Maple Leafs franchise (min. 10 GP): Phil Esposito (1.52) and Jean Ratelle(1.46).

* Senators forward Mark Stone (2-0—2) became the 51st player to reach the 10-goal mark in 2018-19. Only 10 seasons in NHL history have featured more players with at least 10 goals by the conclusion of November: 1981-82 (69), 1983-84 (67), 1992-93 (65), 1982-83 (59), 1989-90 (59), 1993-94 (59), 1987-88 (55), 1980-81 (54), 1988-89 (54) and 2017-18 (54).

^ 17 players have scored exactly nine goals through games played Nov. 26

* Islanders forward Valtteri Filppula opened the scoring 36 seconds into the game, the 35th opening-minute goal of 2018-19. Only two seasons in NHL history have featured more through the first 366 games: 1981-82 (45) and 1984-85 (42).
