NHL MORNING SKATE

FOWLER COMPLETES HAT TRICK, DUCKS WIN IN OVERTIME
Cam Fowler
scored 36 seconds into overtime to net his first career hat trick and help the Ducks snap a seven-game slide (0-5-2). Fowler became the seventh defenseman in NHL history and third in Ducks franchise history to cap a hat trick with an overtime goal (also: Lubomir Visnovsky: March 4, 2011 vs. DAL and Hampus Lindholm: Dec. 21, 2017 at NYI).

* Fowler scored the 54th, 55th and 56th goals of his NHL career (all w/ ANA) to tie Francois Beauchemin for second place on the franchise’s all-time list among defensemen. Scott Niedermayer, who is set to have his No. 27 retired on Feb. 17 as part of the franchise’s 25-year anniversary celebrations, has the most career goals among Ducks defensemen with 60.

POINT ORCHESTRATES COMEBACK, LIGHTNING EARN 10TH WIN
Brayden Point
netted the game-tying goal with 26.4 seconds remaining in regulation and collected an assist on Yanni Gourde’s overtime goal to help the Lightning (10-3-1) become the second team to reach 10 wins this season (NSH: 11). Last season was the only campaign in franchise history to witness the club reach 10 wins in fewer contests (13 GP).

* The Lightning won each of their first seven games against conference opponents in a season for the first time in franchise history; the longest such win streak to begin a season is 12 games, a mark set by the Capitals in 1991-92.

^ Since 1974-75 when teams realigned into two conferences

* Point leads the Lightning with 20 goals since making his first-ever All-Star appearance last season in Tampa Bay (since Jan. 30), including a team-best eight goals in 2018-19 (8-9—17 in 14 GP).

Thirteen of the 36 overtime goals have been scored in the opening minute of extra time, including both on Sunday and one on Saturday (Timo Meier w/ SJS).

RANGERS STRIKE QUICKLY, COLLECT THIRD STRAIGHT WIN
The Rangers scored twice in a 19-second span and Henrik Lundqvist made 39 saves to backstop the club to their third consecutive victory. New York scored twice in the opening minute of a regular-season period for the fifth time in franchise history and first since March 24, 1982 at PIT.

* New York netted two goals in a span of 19 seconds or less for the third time in as many seasons: also Dec. 29, 2016 (0:10 at ARI) and Nov. 3, 2016 (0:17 vs. EDM).

* Lundqvist, who has posted at least 20 wins in each of his 13 NHL seasons entering 2018-19, earned his 435th career victory to move within two of tying Jacques Plante (437) for seventh place on the League’s all-time list.
