PETTERSSON RECORDS FIVE POINTS IN OVERTIME THRILLER

Elias Pettersson (2-3—5) scored one of the game’s six tying goals with 35.9 seconds remaining in regulation and assisted on the overtime winner by Derrick Pouliot to lead the Canucks to their third straight win. Vancouver, which scored seven goals in a game for the first time since Dec. 22, 2014 (7-1 W vs. ARI), improved to 9-6-0 (18 points) this season and reclaimed first place in the Pacific Division standings.

* Pettersson registered a career-high five points to set a franchise record for most in a regular-season game by a rookie, eclipsing the previous mark of four last achieved by teammate Brock Boeser on Dec. 28, 2017 (1-3—4 vs. CHI). He became the first rookie on any NHL club to record five points in a game since Islanders teammates Mathew Barzal (3x) and Ryan Pulock (1x) each did so in 2017-18.

* Pettersson (19 years, 355 days) became the youngest player in franchise history to record at least five points in a regular-season game, eclipsing the previous mark set by Trevor Linden (20 years, 253 days) on Dec. 20, 1990 (3-3—6 vs. EDM). Only 17 different players in NHL history have collected at least five points in a game at a younger age, most recently achieved by Connor McDavid (19 years, 29 days) on Feb. 11, 2016 (2-3—5 vs. TOR).

* Pettersson, who made his NHL debut on Oct. 3, leads all rookies in goals and points this season (9-6—15 in 9 GP). He became the 16th player in League history to score nine or more goals through his first nine career games and just the sixth to do so outside of the NHL’s inaugural campaign.

* Friday’s contest between the Avalanche and Canucks was the 26th regular-season game in NHL history to feature six tying goals and first since Nov. 26, 2005. No regular-season contest in League history has ever featured seven game-tying goals.

* Twenty contests have featured at least 10 combined goals in 2018-19 (194 GP), the highest such total through the first 194 games in a season since 1995-96 (28).

COYOTES SCORE ANOTHER SHORTHANDED GOAL, EXTEND WIN STREAK

Brad Richardson scored his League-leading third shorthanded goal of the season and Michael Grabner tallied 77 seconds into overtime as the Coyotes extended their win streak to five games, the longest active run in the NHL.

* Arizona earned at least five consecutive wins in a regular season for the first time since registering an equal amount from Oct. 26 – Nov. 5, 2013. The Coyotes/Jets franchise record for longest win streak is nine games, a mark set by Winnipeg from March 8-27, 1985, and matched by Phoenix from March 4-21, 2010.

* Richardson, meanwhile, became the 21st different player in NHL history to score at least three shorthanded goals through his team’s first 12 games in a season. Only three of those players had four shorthanded goals through 12 team games: Chuck Lefley in 1975-76 (w/ STL), Butch Goring in 1982-83 (w/ NYI) and Joe Sakic in 1998-99 (w/ COL).

INSIDE THE NUMBERS: COYOTES PENALTY KILL

The Coyotes have scored a League-leading seven shorthanded goals this season, including at least one in each of their last four games.

* Arizona established a franchise record for most consecutive games with at least one shorthanded goal, eclipsing the previous mark of three contests set by the Winnipeg Jets from March 23-29, 1985.

* The Coyotes became the fifth team in NHL history to score at least seven shorthanded goals through their first 12 games in a season, joining the Flyers in 1973-74 (8), Blues in 1975-76 (8), Oilers in 1988-89 (7) and Blues in 1993-94 (7).

PANTHERS RALLY PAST JETS IN FINAL GLOBAL SERIES GAME OF 2018-19

In the third and final NHL Global Series game of 2018-19, Mike Hoffman scored the first of three unanswered goals as the Panthers rallied from a 2-1 deficit to defeat the Jets in front of another sellout crowd of 13,490 at Hartwall Arena in Helsinki, Finland.

* Hoffman, who was acquired by the Panthers on June 19, extended his point streak to a career-high nine games (6-3—9). His run marks the longest point streak by a first-year Panthers player and is four games shy of the matching the franchise record, a mark set by Pavel Bure from March 10 – April 5, 2000 (12-9—21 in 13 GP).

* Keith Yandle (1-1—2) scored the game-winning goal in the second period and concluded the Panthers’ NHL Global Series trip with three points (2-1—3 in 2 GP). He leads all Panthers defensemen with 3-9—12 in 11 contests this season and is one of nine NHL blueliners averaging at least one point per game in 2018-19 (min. 10 GP).

* Evgenii Dadonov (1-1—2) extended his career-high point streak to eight games (5-5—10) and leads the team with 6-7—13 in 11 contests overall, notching points in nine of those outings.

* Roberto Luongo made 32 saves in his return to the Panthers lineup to earn his first win of the season and the 472nd of his NHL career. He trails only Martin Brodeur (691), Patrick Roy (551) and Ed Belfour (484) on the League’s all-time regular-season wins list among goaltenders.

LAINE, BYFUGLIEN FIND SCORESHEET TO SET OVERSEAS BENCHMARKS

Jets teammates Patrik Laine (1-0—1) and Dustin Byfuglien (0-1—1) each found the scoresheet on Friday.

* Laine, who scored a hat trick on Thursday, concluded the Jets’ NHL Global Series trip with four goals (4-0—4 in 2 GP). The 20-year-old moved into sole possession of the most goals by a player in regular-season NHL games played outside of North America.

* Byfuglien boosted his totals to 2-5—7 in four career games overseas, the most points by a player in regular-season NHL contests played outside of North America. Panthers forward Mike Hoffman (3-2—5 in 4 GP) and Jets captain Blake Wheeler (0-5—5 in 2 GP), who also found the scoresheet on Friday, rank tied for fourth place.

THREE TEAMS SET TO HOST HOCKEY FIGHTS CANCER NIGHTS

The Canadiens, Predators and Kings are set to host their Hockey Fights Cancer Awareness Nights on Saturday.

* The Canadiens host the Lightning at Bell Centre in the first of two Hockey Fights Cancer national broadcasts this month (SN360, CITY, TVAS, SUN). The second takes place on Tuesday, Nov. 6, when the Lightning host the Oilers at AMALIE Arena (NBCSN, SNW). Additionally, on Friday, Nov. 9, NHL Network will host a Hockey Fights Cancer night in-studio across NHL Now, NHL Tonight and On The Fly.

* Listed at 5’9”, Brendan Gallagher leads the Canadiens with nine goals this season on the heels of his first 30-goal campaign in 2017-18 (31). Since 2000-01, only five players listed at that height or shorter have recorded multiple 30-goal seasons: 5’8” Martin St. Louis (7x), 5’9” Brad Marchand (3x), 5’9” Daniel Briere (4x), 5’9” Michael Cammalleri (2x) and 5’9” Steve Sullivan (2x).

* Brayden Point leads the Lightning with 19 goals since making his first-ever All-Star appearance last season in Tampa Bay (since Jan. 30), including a team-best seven goals in 2018-19 (7-7—14 in 12 GP).
