PETTERSSON CONTINUES GOAL-A-GAME PACE TO BEGIN NHL CAREER
Elias Pettersson scored twice to boost his totals to 7-3—10 this season (7 GP) and help the Canucks snap the Wild’s win streak at five games.

* Pettersson, who made his NHL debut on Oct. 3, became the 21st player in League history to score at least seven goals through his first seven career games and just the eighth to do so in the NHL’s modern era (since 1943-44).

* Only two other players have scored as many goals through their first seven games with the Canucks (NHL debut or otherwise): Greg Adams in 1987-88 (7-2—9) and Alexander Mogilny in 1995-96 (8-4—12).

Teenagers have accounted for 22 goals this season (not including shootout-deciding goals), which marks the fourth consecutive campaign in which players under the age of 20 have combined for at least 20 tallies before the conclusion of October (35 in 2017-18, 29 in 2016-17 and 28 in 2015-16). The NHL record for most goals scored by teenagers in a single month of October is 47, a mark set in 1982-83 and matched in 1984-85.

FLAMES EARN FIRST WIN IN TORONTO SINCE 2011

The Flames scored twice in a span of 55 seconds during the third period – including the winning goal by Elias Lindholm (1-1—2) – to earn their first road victory against the Maple Leafs since Jan. 15, 2011 (2-1 SO W), snapping a six-game slide (0-5-1).

* Lindholm, acquired by the club on June 23, leads the Flames with eight goals this season (8-4—12 in 12 GP) and trails only six players for the League lead. He became the first Flames player to score eight goals through the first 12 team games in a season since 2007-08, when Jarome Iginla (8-11—19) and Daymond Langkow (8-9—17) each did so.

SPEZZA EXPECTED TO SKATE IN 1,000TH CAREER NHL GAME

Dallas forward Jason Spezza is expected to skate in the 1,000th game of his NHL career when the Stars visit the Canadiens at Bell Centre.

* Spezza would become the third player from the 2001 NHL Draft class to reach the 1,000-game milestone, joining Predators defenseman Dan Hamhuis (1,038) and Canadiens forward Tomas Plekanec (1,001). He has collected 326-570—896 through his first 999 career games and ranks among the top 10 in points and assists among active NHL players.

* Spezza will be the fourth player to hit the 1,000-game milestone this season, joining Blackhawks defenseman Duncan Keith (1,007), Canadiens forward Tomas Plekanec (1,001) and Wild defenseman Ryan Suter (1,002). A pair of veterans can also reach the mark this week: Maple Leafs defenseman Ron Hainsey (999) and Sabres forward Jason Pominville (998).

SURGING PLAYERS LOOK TO EXTEND STREAKS

Several surging players look to extend their point streaks on Tuesday:

* Carolina forward Sebastian Aho (4-12—16 in 11 GP) can establish a Hurricanes/Whalers franchise record for longest season-opening point streak, in which he would eclipse the previous mark set by Ron Francis in 1984-85 (6-8—14 in 11 GP). Aho, who has recorded at least one helper in each contest, can equal the NHL record for longest season-opening assist streak, a mark set by Edmonton’s Wayne Gretzky in 1982-83 (7-20—27 in 12 GP) and matched by Boston’s Ken Linseman in 1985-86 (2-19—21 in 12 GP).

* San Jose’s Brent Burns (2-11—13 in 8 GP) and Timo Meier (7-4—11 in 8 GP) can become the second set of teammates in franchise history to record simultaneous point streaks of at least nine games, in which they would join Todd Elik and Pat Falloon from Jan. 15 – Feb. 8, 1994 (10 GP). Burns, whose eight-game point streak matches a career high, can establish a franchise record for longest by a defenseman. Meier (Herisau, Switzerland), meanwhile, can match the longest point streak recorded by a Swiss-born player, a mark set by Predators forward Kevin Fiala (St. Gallen, Switzerland) from Dec. 2-21, 2017 (8-4—12 in 9 GP).

* Minnesota forward Mikael Granlund (5-5—10 in 8 GP) aims to extend his point streak to nine games as the Wild continue their franchise-record seven-game road trip. The club benchmark for longest point streak is 12 games, a mark he set from Jan. 12 – Feb. 4, 2017 (5-12—17).
