KOSKINEN EARNS FIRST NHL WIN IN OVER SEVEN YEARS

In his first NHL appearance since Feb. 13, 2011 (w/ NYI), Mikko Koskinen made 24 saves to earn the win in his Oilers debut and help Edmonton defeat Nashville for the first time since March 18, 2014 (5-1 W), snapping a 13-game slide (0-11-2). He became the 15th goaltender in franchise history to earn a win in his first game with the club.

* Koskinen recorded his first NHL win since Feb 11, 2011 (9-3 W vs. PIT). The seven years and 258 days between regular-season wins was the third-longest such gap by a goaltender in NHL history.

* Koskinen, who signed with Edmonton on May 1, appeared in 263 regular-season games across three leagues in the seven seasons between his NHL wins from 2011-12 to 2017-18 (AHL, Finnish Elite League and KHL).

FORSBERG, KANE AND LANDESKOG REACH 10-GOAL MARK
Predators forward Filip Forsberg (3-0—3), Blackhawks forward Patrick Kane (2-1—3) and Avalanche captain Gabriel Landeskog (1-0—1) each scored on Saturday to become the third, fourth and fifth players to reach the 10-goal mark this season, joining Maple Leafs forward Auston Matthews and Bruins forward David Pastrnak. It marks the 11th time in NHL history in which five or more players reached the 10-goal mark before the conclusion of October and just the second time in the past 25 years (also Marian Gaborik, Anze Kopitar, Patrick Marleau, Alex Ovechkin andSteven Stamkos in 2009-10).

* Forsberg (10-4—14 in 11 GP) scored his franchise-best sixth career regular-season hat trick to establish a Predators record for most goals in a single month of October, eclipsing the previous mark of eight he set in 2017-18.

* Kane, who leads the League with 11 goals this season (11-6—17 in 11 GP), became the fourth different player in franchise history to score as many through the first 11 team games in a season and first since Bobby Hull in 1967-68 (11-5—16 in 11 GP). Only one player in franchise history has score more in a single month of October: Al Secord in 1982-83 (12-4—16 in 12 GP).

* Landeskog (10-6—16 in 12 GP) concluded the first month of the season just three goals shy of the Avalanche/Nordiques franchise record for mostin a single October, a mark set by Peter Stastny in 1982-83 (13-8—21 in 11 GP) and matched by Owen Nolan in 1991-92 (13-2—15 in 12 GP).

COYOTES BREAK OUT FOR SEVEN GOALS IN THIRD STRAIGHT WIN

Highlighted by Michael Grabner’s two shorthanded tallies, the Coyotes scored seven goals in a game for the first time since Oct. 15, 2014 (7-4 W vs. EDM) to win their third consecutive game and improve to 5-5-0 this season.

* Grabner matched a single-game career high with two shorthanded goals, also accomplished on Feb. 27, 2014 vs. TOR (w/ NYI). Since 1933-34, only five players have recorded more games with two shorthanded goals: Wayne Gretzky (4x), Mario Lemieux (4x), Butch Goring (3x), Don Maloney (3x) and Mark Messier (3x).

* Additionally, only three other players in Coyotes/Jets franchise history have netted two shorthanded goals in a regular-season contest: Keith Tkachuk (April 7, 1995 w/ WIN), Tobias Rieder (Dec. 1, 2014 w/ ARI) and Derek Stepan (Dec. 23, 2017 w/ ARI).

PRICE PASSES ROY, BLANKS RIVAL BRUINS

In the 743rd all-time regular-season meeting between the Canadiens and Bruins – and first this season – Carey Price turned aside all 33 shots he faced to earn his 290th career win and hand Boston its first loss at TD Garden this season (4-1-0). With the victory, Price moved ahead of Patrick Roy (289) for second place on the Canadiens, trailing only Jacques Plante (314).

* Price earned his 41st career shutout (465 GP) and now sits five back of Ken Dryden (46) for third on the Canadiens. George Hainsworth holds the franchise mark with 75 shutouts, accomplished in just 318 appearances with the club.

* The win marked Price’s 25th victory against the rival Bruins, trailing only Ryan Miller and Henrik Lundqvist (both with 27) for the most among active goaltenders.

POINT-PER-GAME PLAYERS HELP CLUBS SECURE WINS

Sixty-six players are averaging at least one point per game this season (min. 5 GP). The NHL record for most players averaging at least one point per game at the conclusion of October is 89 (min. 5 GP), a mark set in 1988-89; the last season to feature a total higher than 66 was 1993-94 (77). Some notable performances by point-per-game players on Saturday night include:

* Anders Lee (1-3—4) matched his single-game career high with four points to boost his totals to 3-6—9 this season (9 GP) and help the Islandersdefeat the Flyers. He became the first Islanders player to record at least four points in a game against the Flyers since Jason Blake on Feb. 27, 2007 (3-1—4).

* Evgeni Malkin (2-1—3) extended his point streak to seven games (4-11—15) in Pittsburgh’s 5-0 win and is averaging exactly two points per contest this season (5-13—18 in 9 GP). Malkin, who trails only Avalanche forward Mikko Rantanen (5-16—21 in 12 GP) for the NHL scoring lead in 2018-19, became the first Penguins player to record at least 18 points through the first nine team games in a season since Mario Lemieux in 2002-03 (5-15—20 in 9 GP).

* Artemi Panarin (2-1—3) scored 31 seconds into overtime to lift the Blue Jackets past the Sabres and to a 6-4-0 record this season. Panarin (5-10—15 in 10 GP) has recorded three points in consecutive games (also Oct. 25 at STL: 0-3—3).

* Ryan O'Reilly (1-2—3) factored on three of the Blues’ seven goals to extend his point streak to five games (3-7—10) and boost his totals to 3-11—14 overall this season (10 GP). St. Louis scored at least seven goals in a game against Chicago for the first time since Jan. 12, 2004 (7-4 W).

* Kyle Palmieri (1-1—2) recorded his fifth multi-point game of the season to help the Devils improve to 5-2-1. Palmieri (8-5—13 in 8 GP) became the second player in Devils/Rockies/Scouts franchise history to score at least eight goals through the first eight team games in a season, joiningPaul Gardner in 1977-78 (9-6—15 w/ CLR).

* Mitch Marner (0-2—2) collected two helpers to reach the 100-assist milestone and help the Maple Leafs rally from a 2-0 third-period deficit to defeat the Jets. Among players to debut with the Maple Leafs franchise, only three required fewer games than Marner (170 GP) to record their first 100 career NHL assists (all w/ TOR): Gus Bodnar (148 GP), Joe Primeau (163 GP) and Syl Apps (166 GP).

* Evgeny Kuznetsov (0-2—2) collected two assists and scored in the shootout to help Capitals goaltender Pheonix Copley earn the first win of his NHL career (5 GP). Kuznetsov, who led all players with 12-20—32 in the 2018 Stanley Cup Playoffs (24 GP), paces the Capitals with 15 points in 2018-19 (5-10—15 in 10 GP).

BURNS, MEIER LOOK TO CONTINUE STREAKS ON SUNDAY

Brent Burns, Timo Meier and the Sharks wrap up their three-game road trip when they travel to Honda Center to take on the Ducks.

* Burns (2-10—12 in 7 GP) and Meier (5-3—8 in 7 GP) are two of seven players with active point streaks of at least seven games, paced byHurricanes forward Sebastian Aho (4-11—15 in 10 GP) – who is also in action Sunday. Additionally, Burns and Meier are the second set of teammates to post simultaneous point streaks of at least seven contests this season, joining Avalanche forwards Mikko Rantanen and Nathan MacKinnon (9 GP from Oct. 4-22).

* Only two sets of teammates in Sharks franchise history have posted simultaneous point streaks of eight or more games: Todd Elik and Pat Falloon (10 GP in 1993-94); Ryane Clowe and Joe Thornton (8 GP in 2009-10).
