CROSBY ECLIPSES 400-GOAL MILESTONE IN PENGUINS WIN

Sidney Crosby scored twice to eclipse the 400-goal milestone (401-688—1,089 in 839 GP) and help the Penguins improve to 6-1-1 in their last eight games.

* Crosby snapped a 10-game goal drought but has collected 5-22—27 in 17 games since Jan. 1, tied with teammate Evgeni Malkin (16-11—27 in 17 GP) for the most points in the NHL in 2018. The Penguins (31-22-4, 66 points) have moved from seventh to second in the Metropolitan Division standings during that span, posting a 12-4-1 (25 points) record in 2018.

* Crosby reached the milestone with his father Troy in attendance at Scottrade Center, who took part in the Penguins’ annual Fathers’ Trip this weekend.

“It was really nice. To have my dad here who was around for so many early mornings and sacrificed a lot so I could play hockey, it’s special . . . It’s been a fun weekend, especially getting three of four points."Sidney Crosby on his father being in attendance for career goal No. 400

INSIDE THE NUMBERS: SIDNEY CROSBY

Sidney Crosby became the 95th player in NHL history (seventh active) to record 400 career goals and the 37th to do so in 839 games or fewer. Crosby, who has spent his entire career with the Penguins, joined Mario Lemieux (690-1,033—1,723 in 915 GP) and Jaromir Jagr (439-640—1,079 in 806 GP) as the only players to score 400 goals for the franchise.

* Crosby became the 20th player in League history to record at least400 goals and 600 assists for the same franchise; the only other active player on that list is Jagr. In fact, only two other active players have compiled at least400 goals and 400 assists with one franchise: Patrick Marleau (508-574—1,082 in 1,493 GP w/ SJS) and Alex Ovechkin (591-504—1,095 in 976 GP w/ WSH).

BRUINS EXTEND ROAD STREAKS IN WIN OVER DEVILS

Torey Krug (2-0—2) and Patrice Bergeron (1-1—2) each collected two points to help the Bruins (34-12-8, 76 points) extend their road win and point streaks to seven and 13 games (11-0-2), respectively, the longest such runs in the NHL this season. This marks the fifth time in franchise history that the Bruins have recorded at least one point in 13 or more consecutive road games.

* The Bruins – who posted a road win streak of at least seven games for the seventh time in club history and first since a franchise-record nine-game run from March 2-30, 2014 – moved within three points of the League-leading Lightning (38-14-3, 79 points) for first place in the Eastern Conference standings.

* Bergeron boosted his 2017-18 totals to 25-24—49 (49 GP), including 14-10—24 since Jan. 1 (17 GP). Bergeron has recorded at least one point in 14 of 17 games in 2018, including six multi-point performances.

CANUCKS SCORE SIX TIMES TO BLANK STARS

Vancouver matched a season high for goals and Jacob Markstromturned aside all 30 shots he faced as the Canucks earned a 6-0 win over the Stars, their largest margin of victory in a shutout since Dec. 6, 2011 vs. COL (6-0 W). Vancouver earned its first regulation win against Dallas since Feb. 21, 2013 (4-3 W), snapping the Stars’ 14-game point streak against them (13-0-1).

FLYERS EXTEND WIN STREAK TO FOUR GAMES

Sean Couturier (1-2—3) factored on three of four goals to help the Flyers (28-19-9, 65 points) extend their win streak to four games and strengthen their hold on third place in the Metropolitan Division standings. Couturier has established single-season career highs for goals, assists and points with 28-29—57 in 2017-18 (56 GP).

LATE GOALS HELP CLUBS SECURE VICTORIES

The Sharks (30-18-8, 68 points), Flames (29-19-8, 66 points) and Rangers (27-24-5, 59 points) each secured victories via timely goals in the final minutes regulation:

* Timo Meier tied the game with 53.7 seconds remaining in regulation and Joe Pavelski scored the decisive marker in the shootout to propel the Sharks past the Ducks.

* Matthew Tkachuk tied the game in the third period and tallied again with 1:05 remaining in regulation to power the Flames to a 4-1-0 record in their last five outings.

* Jimmy Vesey scored the go-ahead goal with 3:53 remaining in regulation to lift the Rangers to their second straight victory on the heels on a four-game slide (0-4-0).

The Lightning (38-14-3, 79 points) and Maple Leafs (33-19-5, 71 points) – who are first and third in the Atlantic Division standings, respectively – square off at Air Canada Centre in the second contest of their four-game season series. Tampa Bay earned a 2-0 win in its first meeting with Toronto on Jan. 2.

* The League-leading Lightning enter the contest with wins in four of their last five outings and are led offensively by Nikita Kucherov (29-40—69 in 55 GP) and Steven Stamkos (21-43—64 in 55 GP), who are first and fourth (tied) in League scoring this season.
