NHL Network Coverage Of The 2024 World Junior Championship

December 20, 2023 – NHL Network today announced it will provide extensive coverage of the 2024 IIHF World Junior Championship and the 2024 Discover NHL Winter Classic®. For the World Junior Championship, NHL Network will serve as the exclusive U.S. TV home for the 16th consecutive year. Live game telecasts plus comprehensive analysis, highlights, interviews and previews of the tournament from Gothenburg, Sweden will air within the flagship studio show NHL Tonight and via @NHLNetwork on Facebook, Instagram and Twitter.

NHL Network’s complete coverage begins Tuesday, December 26 with four live telecasts of preliminary round matchups between Czechia vs. Slovakia at 6:00 a.m. ET, followed by Canada vs. Finland at 8:30 a.m. ET, Norway vs. USA at 11 a.m. ET, and Latvia vs. host country Sweden at 1:30 p.m. ET. NHL Network will preview the 2024 tournament matchups and players to watch on NHL Tonight: 2024 World Junior Championship Preview on Monday, December 25 at 6 p.m. ET. Other Team USA games include 11 a.m. ET on Thursday, December 28 against Switzerland, on Friday, December 29 at 11 a.m. ET vs. Czechia, and against Slovakia on Sunday, December 31 at 6 a.m. ET.

NHL Network’s E.J. Hradek will continue to provide play-by-play for each Team USA game along with longtime NCAA hockey analyst Dave Starman and Jon Rosen will also serve as reporter. NHL Network reporter Jon Morosi will also contribute the following features on Team USA throughout the network’s studio content on the tournament:

  • A sit down with head coach David Carle to discuss his heart issue forcing him to stop playing hockey and transition to coaching, leading to his success at the University of Denver;
  • Profile on University of Michigan forward Gavin Brindley losing his grandfather ahead of his second World Junior Championship;
  • Boston College forward Cutter Gauthier profile on being a top American player;
  • Breakdowns by similar style USA defensemen Seamus Casey and Lane Hutson;
  • And a feature on Erie Otters forward Carey Terrance, who was born on the Akwesasne Native American Reservation, discusses the impact that’s had on him as a player.

NHL Network’s complete on-air schedule for the tournament is available here and further below. During pre-competition play, Team USA vs. Canada will faceoff on Saturday, December 23 at 12:00 p.m. ET, live on ESPN+, and will re-air on NHL Network the following day on Sunday, December 24 at 12 p.m. ET.

As the New Year and one of the most anticipated events of the NHL season approaches, NHL Network will provide live coverage of the 2024 Discover NHL Winter Classic with segments from Seattle, Washington’s T-Mobile Park on Saturday, December 30 during the 10 p.m. ET edition of On The Fly. Brian Boyle and Mike Rupp, who have both played in NHL Winter Classics, will be joined by NHL Network’s Jamison Coyle and Tony Luftman during practice sessions on Sunday, December 31, featured during NHL Tonight™ at 5 p.m. ET, and on the pre- and post-game coverage for the Discover NHL Winter Classic on Monday, January 1 beginning at 1 p.m. ET and immediately following the game.
