It’s the dynamics of the divisional competition, not the worthiness of the most talented Leafs players, that are worth focusing on. Too often Leafs fans and observers seem to forget that 31 other teams are trying to win, too.

For seven consecutive Septembers, good teams have emerged from the Leafs’ training camp. It will happen again over the next few weeks, for an eighth straight year.

You’d think more folks in these parts would understand what has been accomplished, not what hasn’t. And what is still very possible.
