Martin Brodeur Jersey Retirement Night Tops List Of Priciest NHL Games In February

02/02/2016 at 8:43pm EST

From Joe Sudberg,

The NHL and its loyal fans enjoyed a small break with the 2016 NHL All-Star game, but February brings the action back to the ice. The Washington Capitals head into the second half of the year looking to hold onto hockey’s best record, while the defending champion Chicago Blackhawks aim to continue their hot run in an effort to defend their title.

It’s going to be a wild ride to close out the year, and the excitement all picks up in this month with a slew of elite matchups. Let’s gauge the top NHL battles as we take a look at the five most expensive set of NHL tickets in February, per TiqIQ.com:

2/9/2016 - New Jersey Devils vs. Edmonton Oilers at Prudential Center | Avg: $446.92 | Get-in: $140

The most expensive game of February is quite the surprise, as the Edmonton Oilers are one of the worst teams in the league at just 19-26-5. Edmonton sits at the bottom of the Pacific Division and isn’t likely to make a playoff run, especially when they need to travel to the Prudential Center to take on good teams like the Devils. The pricing has nothing to do with the matchup, though, as fans will have to pay up to see a very special Martin Brodeur jersey retirement ceremony. That makes the $140 get-in price seem somewhat cheap, while the near $447 average makes a good amount of sense. A 21-year veteran of the Devils, Brodeur helped the team to three Stanley Cup titles and was easily one of the best goalies the league has ever seen.

Fans showing up to honor Brodeur will probably be down for saving some extra cash, while they’ll also want to make sure they have their parking spot locked down early. They can get that taken care of way ahead of time by looking up Prudential Center parking on ParkWhiz.com, where spots can be found for as cheap as $7.

2/13/2016 - Chicago Blackhawks vs. Anaheim Ducks at United Center | Avg: $403.55 | Get-in: $143

The Blackhawks need no introduction, as they won it all a year ago and will be at home on the 13th to take on a decent Ducks squad. Anaheim still has playoff hopes at 22-18-7, but will have their work cut out for them when they take it to the road. The Ducks are just 8-10-3 away from home this year, while Chicago simply doesn’t lose at home very often, going a blistering 21-5-1 so far this season. Being a defending champ certainly spikes Blackhawks tickets a bit, while Chicago home games have proven to be more than worth the steep price during the 2015-16 hockey season.

2/28/2016 - Chicago Blackhawks vs. Washington Capitals at United Center | Avg: $361.23 | Get-in: $149

Washington stormed out to an elite start over the first half of the season, losing just eight games and posting a strong 17-5-2 road mark. That makes this game more than just one of the most hyped NHL games you’ll find, as fans will be paying up to see a battle that truly is between two of the best teams in the league. A Blackhawks Sunglasses Giveaway only adds to the value in this one.

Fans will certainly want to get their parking spots way ahead of time, as this game is going to be intense and parking spots around the United Center will go fast. In search of both value and good spots, Chicago and Washington fans can secure quality United Center parking from ParkWhiz for as little as $21.

2/17/2016 - New York Rangers vs. Chicago Blackhawks at Madison Square Garden | Avg: $331.52 | Get-in: $126

An equally intense battle between the Blackhawks and Rangers comes just 11 days earlier, with this one being in the storied Madison Square Garden. The Rangers certainly don’t have the record the Capitals do, but they’ve been rather good (27-17-5) and this game could potentially be a preview of this year’s Stanley Cup Final.

2/12/2016 - New York Rangers vs. Los Angeles Kings at Madison Square Garden | Avg: $330.52 | Get-in: $124

The Rangers hit our February list of most expensive hockey tickets for the second time, and their battle with the Kings won’t carry any less value or hype than their duel with the Blackhawks. MSG games always carry a sense of mystique to them, but this is a rematch of the 2014 Stanley Cup Finals, in which the Kings won. New York will be out for blood in this inter-conference showdown at Madison Square Garden.
