Kukla's Korner Hockey

Marketing And The NHL

09/01/2019 at 2:36pm EDT

Scott Norton is president of Norton Sports Management (NSM) one of leading sports management companies in the world specializing in hockey.

Yesterday he answered a few questions from fans on Twitter an you can assume the question by his answers but do check out his recent tweets too.

Unfortunately, I do not have all the answers, but I believe it has to start at the grass roots level. “We” have to do a better job marketing out athletes, not just the top few. If fans won’t come to hockey because they don’t know the sport, we need to bring hockey to them!!

When Social Media became prevelant, much of @NHL and General Managers battled players not to become involved, and they still frown upon much of it. Teams want to sell the name on the front of the jersey rather than the back! That only works in NFL!!
