from Mike Zeisberger of the Toronto Sun,
Just 12 months ago, well-known stars like Ryan Miller, Roberto Luongo, Marian Gaborik, Thomas Vanek, Matt Moulson, Jaroslav Halak, Marty St. Louis and Ryan Callahan all changed addresses within five days of the National Hockey League trade deadline.
This time around, we’re supposed to get excited about the Antoine Vermettes, David Clarksons and Andrej Sekeras of the world either having already been moved or potentially being swapped? Really?
What a downer, man.
From sizzle to fizzle in just one year. Unless there still are a few under-the-radar blockbusters in the making, that will be the story of the 2015 trade deadline.
That’s not meant to be disrespectful to Vermette and the other players mentioned, who are by all means quality NHLers. At the same time, no one can argue the “wow” factor is missing this time around, much to the chagrin of the television networks which may end up having more analysts during trade deadline day than the actual number of bodies involved in swaps.
Why the lack of big names?
