Guess which game the president of the Flames attended? Wonder how many other club president’s missed their home openers? ... My prediction: None.

- Yet another example of why Mike Babcock has no equal in the NHL: The past five seasons, he has used Darren Helm on the power play an average of 12 seconds a game. In other words, not at all. So in Game 1 of this season, he rewards the veteran Helm with power-play time. Who sets up the winning goal with the man advantage? The historically low-scoring Helm.
