Hockey Notes Of Interest

from Jim Matheson of the Edmonton Journal,

- Willie Desjardins is a fine coach, but let me join the chorus and sing a popular refrain: why has UFA winger Radim Vrbata, who has been in the tank with his trade value dropping by the minute, not been playing with the Sedins in Vancouver? Vrbata is -28 and has one goal in his last 22 games.

- I keep thinking San Jose would be a nice landing spot for UFA goalie Cam Ward at the trade deadline because the Sharks don’t seem to have much faith in backup Alex Stalock. Of course, the Hurricanes are still in the playoff hunt, so maybe they want to hang on to Ward.

- Count me in with the chorus of other critics on Sabres’ Evander Kane: Time, young man, to grow up. Look in the mirror. Treat your hockey playing like it’s a real job, be a professional about it.
