from Steve Simmons of the Toronto Sun,
- Mitch Marner isn’t going to get an offer sheet, unless it comes from a team that is one player away from big-time contention. Why else would a team risk giving up four first round draft picks — which would be the price for signing Marner.
- This must kill fans of Canadian teams: Carolina Hurricanes have made the playoffs four times in the past 19 years. In those four times, they have won the Stanley Cup, lost the Stanley Cup, and twice made the conference finals. No first round elimination for them.
- The tweet I’d like to have back: In the summer, I called the Hurricanes a gong show. It was reasonable, I thought. They had a new owner who couldn’t seem to find a way to hire or pay a traditional general manager, then they hired a coach who had never been a head coach before. It all looked like it was adding up to disaster. So go figure, two goalies nobody wanted may be leading this team to the Stanley Cup.
