- The 2015-16 cap may reach $73 million as suggested at last week’s Board of Governors meeting by Gary Bettman, but a number of team executives contacted by Slap Shots are taking a conservative approach to roster construction, understanding that a decline in the Canadian dollar could limit the cap to closer to the $71 million neighborhood.
- So, apparently it’s true. Director of Officiating Stephen Walkom did receive a standing ovation following his presentation at the Board of Governors that outlined the NHL’s approach to training their officials.
One member in attendance, however, did not join the celebration. “I must have been in the back getting coffee,” the Fellow Who Shall Not Be Identified told Slap Shots. “Both my hands were full.”
