from Stev Simmons of the Toronto Sun,
- Cam Newton has tested positive for COVID-19. The reports of the test came from both ESPN and the NFL Network. Funny, not a word anywhere about his privacy being violated. Guess that’s just a hockey thing … The NFL Network, by the way, was among those breaking the Newton story. Can you imagine the NHL Network or nhl.com being allowed to report on this? The unwritten hockey rule: We protect our own.
- I wouldn’t want Oliver Ekman-Larsson on my team. If he doesn’t want to play with Connor McDavid and Leon Draisaitl, why would I want him? Ekman-Larsson has Edmonton on his no-trade list. If I was a player, I’d yearn to play with the best.
- Why would San Jose want Devan Dubnyk when the goalie market is flooded? What did their scouts see this season that no one else did?
- Imagine if Marc Bergevin hadn’t traded Mikhail Sergachev away? The Habs would have Shea Weber, Jeff Petry, Ben Chiarot and Sergachev as their top four on defence.
- Has anyone scored a quieter 34 points in a Stanley Cup playoffs than Nikita Kucherov scored with the champion Lightning? He has a little bit of modern Gretzky in him. You think he does nothing and then you check the game sheet and he’s got three points.
