Series Scenarios
* When a best-of-seven Stanley Cup Playoffs series is tied 1-1, the winner of Game 3 holds an all-time series record of 218-107 (67.1%). That includes a 3-1 mark in 2020.

* Teams that hold a 2-1 series lead in a best-of-seven hold an all-time series record of 355-154 (.697), including a 5-1 mark in the 2020 Stanley Cup Playoffs.

* Teams that hold a 3-1 series lead in a best-of-seven hold an all-time series record of 284-29 (.907), including a 6-0 mark in the 2020 Stanley Cup Playoffs.

* Wins Wednesday by the Flyers and Avalanche guaranteed that the 2020 Stanley Cup Playoffs will not have a best-of-seven sweep through the Second Round. The best-of-seven format has been used in all four rounds since 1987 – this marks the fifth time over that span that there won’t be any sweeps through the opening two rounds (also 1991, 2002, 2010 and 2016).

Pre-Game
* Tampa Bay is 14-11 (.560) in Game 4 of best-of-seven series all time; Boston is 56-48 (.538).

* When leading 2-1 in a best-of-seven, Tampa Bay holds an all-time series record of 8-3 (.727); when they lead 3-1, they are 7-0 (1.000). The Lightning have a series record of 5-6 (.455) when tied 2-2 in a best-of-seven series.

* When trailing 2-1 in a best-of-seven, Boston holds a series record of 10-25 (.286); when they are tied 2-2 they are 18-17 (.514). The Bruins have a series record of 0-24 (.000) when trailing 3-1 in a best-of-seven series.

* Brad Marchand, who has scored in three straight games for the second time during the 2020 postseason (also Games 2-4 of R1), can become the fourth Bruins player since 2000 to record a playoff goal streak of at least four games - Miroslav Satan (4 GP in 2010), Michael Ryder (4 GP in 2009) and Bill Guerin (4 GP in 2002) are the only ones to do so in that span.

* David Pastrnak has points in each of his last five appearances (2-7—9) and skated in his 50th career playoff contest in Game 3 (19-33—52 in 50 GP). A goal in his one of his next four games would make Pastrnak the fourth player to debut with the Bruins franchise and score his 20th career playoff goal prior to his 55th game. He would join Barry Pederson (24 GP), Gregg Sheppard (32 GP) and Bobby Orr (50 GP).

* David Krejci sits one goal shy of becoming the sixth player in Bruins history to score at least 40 playoff goals and the second active (also Patrice Bergeron: 42). Boston would be the third franchise to have multiple active players with at least 40 postseason goals: Pittsburgh (Patrick Marleau, Sidney Crosby & Evgeni Malkin) and Chicago (Patrick Kane & Jonathan Toews).

* Nikita Kucherov equaled the highest assist and point totals in a playoff game by a Lightning player after he collected 1-3—4 in Game 3 to boost his career postseason totals to 33-42—75. He sits one goal shy of surpassing Martin St. Louis (33) for sole possession of the most playoff goals in franchise history.

* Nikita Kucherov can become the first player in Lightning history to post consecutive playoff games with three or more points after posting 1-3—4 in Game 3. He has collected three or more points in a playoff game for Tampa Bay 10 times – the most among all players in franchise history.

* Brayden Point has averaged over a point-per-game during the playoffs and leads the Lightning in scoring during the 2020 postseason (1.36; 6-9—15 in 11 GP). His current points-per-game pace in 2020 is the highest single-postseason total in franchise history (min. 10 GP).

* Brayden Point (1.00; 14-18—32 in 32 GP) is one of three players in Lightning history to produce at a point-per-game pace in his postseason career (min. 10 GP). The others: Martin St. Louis (1.08 P/GP in 63 GP) and Brad Richards (1.04 P/GP in 45 GP).

* The Lightning struck for seven goals in Game 3 en route to victory and have scored 11 goals over their last two games. The most goals over a span of two playoff games in franchise history is 12, accomplished twice: Game 5 and 6 of the 2011 Conference Quarterfinals as well as Game 2 and 3 of the 2015 Conference Finals.

Pre-Game
* Philadelphia is 35-37 (.486) in Game 3 of best-of-seven series all time; New York is 23-21 (.523).

* When tied 1-1 in a best-of-seven, Philadelphia holds an all-time series record of 18-18 (.500); when they lead 2-1, they are 21-3 (.875). The Flyers have a series record of 7-22 (.241) when trailing 2-1 in a best-of-seven series.

* When tied 1-1 in a best-of-seven, New York holds an all-time series record of 8-10 (.444); when they lead 2-1, they are 8-2 (.800). The Islanders have a series record of 4-12 (.250) when trailing 2-1 in a best-of-seven series.

* Three of the five head-to-head games between the Flyers and Islanders since the start of the 2019-20 regular season have seen a three-goal lead erased (NYI on Nov. 16 in a win, PHI on Feb. 11 in a loss, NYI in Game 2 in a loss). Prior to the Flyers and Islanders, it had been 30 years since two teams combined for a trio of three-goal comebacks – regardless of outcome – in a season, with at least one of those contests coming during the playoffs. In 1990, the Oilers did it against both the Kings (2 in regular season, 1 in playoffs) and original Jets (2 in regular season, 1 in playoffs).

* Anthony Beauvillier, with three goals in his last three games, has scored a team-leading seven goals this postseason. Should he find the back of the net again, Beauvillier would become the sixth player in franchise history to score at least eight goals in a playoff year at age 23 or younger - Bryan Trottier (12 in 1980; 21 GP), Mike Bossy (10 in 1980; 16 GP), Brent Sutter (10 in 1983; 20 GP), Duane Sutter (9 in 1983; 20 GP) and Pat Flatley (9 in 1984; 21 GP) are the only ones to do so.

* Mathew Barzal has 3-6—9 during the 2020 postseason (11 GP), besting his previous totals from 2019 (2-5—7 in 8 GP) and bringing his career playoff stats to 5-11—16 in 19 contests. He sits two points shy of becoming just the third player to debut with the Islanders and record at least 18 points through his first 20 career postseason games; he would join John Tavares (11-11—22), John Tonelli (7-11—18) and Denis Potvin (5-13—18).

* Mathew Barzal also sits one point shy of joining Josh Bailey (2-9—11 in 11 GP) and Anthony Beauvillier (7-3—10) as the third Islanders player to register at least 10 points in 2020. There has only been one postseason in the last 35 years to feature at least three Islanders players with 10-plus points – 1993, when Pierre Turgeon, Steve Thomas, Derek King, Ray Ferraro and Benoit Hogueall reached the benchmark.

* With their overtime win in Game 2, the Flyers improved to 11-0 in their last 11 games following a loss in 2019-20 (including regular season). Their 11-game stretch is two longer than the next closest clubs this season – Penguins (9 GP) and Jets (9 GP).

* Claude Giroux has recorded five assists in 11 games this postseason, boosting his career totals to 24-46—70 in 80 contests. He sits one point shy of passing Tim Kerr for sole possession of seventh place on the franchise’s all-time list and two of tying Daniel Briere for sixth place.

* Carter Hart has recorded 31 saves in two of his last three appearances and owns a 7-3 record through his first 10 career playoff games (1.97 GAA, .935 SV% and 2 SO). Among goaltenders to make their playoff debut with the Flyers, only two have posted a lower goals-against average than Hart through their first 10 postseason appearances: Brian Boucher (1.79) and Michael Leighton (1.89). Hart's .935 save percentage is the highest among all Philadelphia netminders under those conditions.

###

Pre-Game
* Vegas is 5-1 (.833) in Game 3 of best-of-seven series all time; Vancouver is 12-24 (.333).

* When tied 1-1 in a best-of-seven, Vegas holds an all-time series record of 2-2 (.500); when they lead 2-1, they are 2-1 (.667). The Golden Knights have a series record of 0-1 (.000) when trailing 2-1 in a best-of-seven series.

* When tied 1-1 in a best-of-seven, Vancouver holds an all-time series record of 10-13 (.435); when they lead 2-1, they are 10-6 (.625). The Canucks have a series record of 4-9 (.308) when trailing 2-1 in a best-of-seven series.

* Elias Pettersson has recorded a team-leading 16 points this postseason (5-11—16 in 12 GP). Only nine players in franchise history have recorded more points in a playoff year, including four during the team’s run to the Stanley Cup Final in 2011 (Henrik Sedin, Daniel Sedin, Ryan Kesler and Alexandre Burrows).

* Elias Pettersson has six multi-point games since the start of the Stanley Cup Qualifiers on Aug. 1. Only three players in franchise history have posted more such performances in a single playoff year: Thomas Gradin in 1982, Trevor Linden in 1994 and Henrik Sedin in 2011 (all w/ 7).

* Bo Horvat scored twice in Game 2 to collect his eighth goal of the postseason and take sole possession of the League lead in 2020 (8-2—10 in 12 GP). Only seven players in Canucks history have scored more than eight goals in a playoff year.

* Vegas is 24-13 in 37 all-time postseason games, including an 8-2 record in 2020. Should the Golden Knights earn a win in Game 3, they will have required the fewest games to reach 25 postseason wins among all NHL franchises, besting the previous low of 43 contests shared by the Islanders and Oilers.

* Alex Tuch (3-1—4 in 3 GP) and Max Pacioretty (3-1—4 in 3 GP) both have goals in three straight games. Should they score again in Game 3, they would tie Jonathan Marchessault (4 GP in 2019) for the longest playoff goal streak by any Golden Knights player.

* Shea Theodore enters Game 3 with points in each of his last four games (1-5—6). Already with the longest playoff point streak by a Golden Knights defenseman, Theodore can join Quinn Hughes (6 GP w/ VAN) and Cale Makar (5 GP w/ COL) as the third blueliner to register a point streak of five-plus games this postseason.

* The last time at least three different defensemen posted a point streak of five or more games in one postseason was 2014, when P.K. Subban (6 GP), Ryan McDonagh (5 GP), Torey Krug (5 GP) and Dougie Hamilton (5 GP) all did so.
