In the past few years, wearable health monitoring devices have taken over the world with a blow. These wearable trackers are usually worn as a wristband over the pulse that is used to measure an individual’s lifestyle and their body conditions such as the number of steps they took a day, how many calories they have burned daily or weekly or monthly, blood pressure and heart rate monitoring and sleep pattern analysis, etc.
This same technology has now been introduced in NHL (National Hockey League) games, which is a professional ice hockey league to monitor the health and fitness level of the players before, during and after the gameplay. After 24 years of immense planning NHL recently announced that in their recent gameplay session they will be introducing wearable health devices to monitor the health of their players. The infographic by Betway NHL Lines provides the outline:
INTRODUCING FITBITS AND WEARABLE DEVICES
Today, in the consumer market the Fitbits, as well as other wearable devices, are a part of the humungous business. What is more special is that they are now going to be part of sports as well. For player performance during the game, the trackable puck is introduced that can help in in-play decisions.
Similarly, the health devices are to be installed in the shoulder pads of the player that through a sensor can monitor the health and fitness level during the play. For instance, during the play, the player is feeling extremely tired than through this device the managers and coaches can get instant information regarding his health crisis or pain endurance level.
The information gathered through these wearable devices can be feed in the customized training regimes and analyzed through the help of AI (Artificial Intelligence). These Fitbits can also guide during the training sessions and provide crucial information on how to use the optimum strength of the player in the game.
WHY WEARABLE HEALTH DEVICES ARE A NEED?
These wearable health devices and Fitbits are necessary as these sports are prone to violence. Betway’s Research has confirmed that the percentage of NHL players who have missed at least one game in each session due to injury is nearly 51%. That is almost half of the game playing career. Therefore, with the Fitbits and other wearable devices, the players can be monitored precisely. The trackable puck technology will monitor any rash violence and the gears will keep a track of such injuries, minor or major.
As per the latest reports, 16.2% of ice hockey injuries are caused by the overuse of certain muscles and movements. Therefore, it means muscle fatigue is also a major cause of injuries in NHL players. With the tech involved now, the players can be easily monitored that when they are overexerting themselves and they can be stopped before they injure themselves, unknowingly.
CONCLUSION
With the involvement of wearable technology, the health and fitness level of the NHL players can be easily monitored and there will be no more compromise over their overall health and muscular movements.
