via Grant Brisbee of SB Nation,
Before there were blogs, Kevin Goldstein had a newsletter, which sounds quaint now. The success of the newsletter led to him writing for Baseball America, and that led to him handling most of the prospect-hounding for Baseball Prospectus over the last six-plus seasons -- his first column talked about pitching prospects like Justin Verlander, Zack Greinke, and Francisco Liriano, for example.
And now he's saying goodbye to the Internet:
This is my final piece at Baseball Prospectus, as I've accepted a position as Coordinator of Pro Scouting for the Houston Astros. That doesn't sound real to me yet either, but there it is. Needless to say, I'm extremely excited about this opportunity and the challenge ahead of us. I've been nothing but incredibly impressed with the entire staff in Houston, as well as their plans for the future, and I'm absolutely honored to suddenly be a small part of it.
