If the Roberto Luongo to the Edmonton Oilers rumour was an ember, Tuesday's home opener was the can of diesel your brother-in-law leaves by the wood pile.
Acquiring Luongo never made a lick of sense to anyone in these parts, until, of course, the Edmonton Oilers played their home opener.
After 20 minutes of play the San Jose Sharks led 6-1, Devan Dubnyk had been thoroughly ventilated by Joe Thornton and his mates, and as the good citizens of Edmonton ate their cheap hamburgers and discounted beer, you could almost hear the intermission banter.
