The Ottawa Sun's Bruce Garrioch touches upon the usual hot trade topics in Jarome Iginla and Corey Perry in his weekly rumor roundup, but he suggests that the biggest moves to come as we hurtle toward the April 3rd trade deadline may originate in Buffalo, where the Sabres are considering "blowing up" their roster:
Despite the denials of GM Darcy Regier, league sources confirmed to QMI Agency Saturday the Sabres are indeed ready to "blow it up" and pretty much every player on their roster is available before the April 3 trade deadline.
Sources say the Sabres aren't going to move high-scoring winger Thomas Vanek or top prospects Marcus Foligno, Cody Hodgson or Alexander Sulzer. Nobody would take Tyler Myers' contract, but every player is up for discussion.
The Sabres are treading water. They're about to miss the playoffs for the second straight year. They tried blaming coach Ruff, but replacement Ron Rolston hasn't exactly set the world on fire.
