1/23/2016 - Toronto Maple Leafs vs. Montreal Canadiens at Air Canada Centre | Avg: $552.89 | Get-in: $161
Toronto (16-20-7) doesn’t look like a playoff contender and Montreal may be joining them on the outside looking in before it’s all said and done, but the draw here is all about an intense rivalry. Neither side will want to drop this one, while Montreal (23-19-4) definitely still has playoff aspirations and will want to put an end to a bit of a dry spell (four straight losses). Doing so against the Maple Leafs makes a good amount of sense and fans might be willing to go the extra mile with Canadiens tickets due to the prospects of winning. Maple Leafs tickets will still carry steam, as well, thanks to the heated rivalry.
1/24/2016 - Chicago Blackhawks vs. St. Louis Blues at United Center | Avg: $321.65 | Get-in: $136
Blackhawks tickets are really never going to be dirt cheap, as we’re talking about the defending champs playing in front of their home crowd. Throw in a divisional foe that happens to be quite good themselves, and the value can be seen through an ice-covered window. Chicago holds the upper hand as a white hot team at home (11-0 in past 11, 20-5-1 at home on the year), and in a sense this is actually a bit of a bargain. The St. Louis Blues come in quite a bit more expensive than fans are used to, but the road date with the Central division’s top team explains that away rather easily and travel and hotel rates from Hipmunk.com are very reasonably priced.
1/24/2016 - Washington Capitals vs. Pittsburgh Penguins at Verizon Center | Avg: $231.24 | Get-in: $107
The best team in the league had to make our top-priced hockey tickets list eventually, and here are the Capitals on January 24th, taking on Sidney Crosby and the Penguins at home at the Verizon Center. Crosby’s presence accompanied by an intense rivalry game help boost Capitals and Penguins tickets, as Washington fans typically pay about half this much for a normal Capitals game and the same can be said for Pittsburgh fans. Even with the nearly 50% increase, fans are still getting an arguable value with Penguins and Capitals tickets coming in at just over $230 and a cool $107 to get in the door. Fans can probably expect a high-scoring affair, as Washington leads the NHL with 149 goals, which could force the Penguins to bring their A game offensively. If not, Capitals fans could be in for a treat in the form of a blowout win on their own ice.
