from Aaron Portzline of the Columbus Dispatch,
The Blue Jackets' search for a backup goaltender to Sergei Bobrovsky could best be described as ...; ongoing.
If a whirlwind 7-6 overtime win Sunday at the Ottawa Senators showed anything, it's that Joonas Korpisalo's grip on the position is hardly firm. Korpisalo stopped 28 of 34 shots, fighting the puck all game and allowing two, maybe three, tough goals.
Coach John Tortorella didn't see it that way, however.
"You have to be really careful when you evaluate Korpisalo in this game here," Tortorella said. "They had some grade-A chances and he made some great saves. There are a couple I'm sure he would like back; he got unlucky on a couple. You have to be really careful how you grade him, though."...
Since the Blue Jackets lost veteran Curtis McElhinney on waivers to Toronto on Jan. 10, Korpisalo and Anton Forsberg - currently with minor-league Cleveland - have combined to go 2-2-0 with an .880 save percentage and 3.78 goals-against average. The Blue Jackets have 15 games to sort out the position before the NHL trade deadline March 1.
