from Brendan Kelly of the Montreal Gazette,
I stay on message. Here’s the short version of that message — as long as the same incompetent managers manage this club, they ain’t going anywhere. Sure they might win some games, particularly if Carey Price bounces back from his nightmarish season, but they will not be within sniffing distance of the league’s elite teams.
So, to paraphrase Mick Jagger back when he was relevant, what can a poor boy — or Habs fan — do? Maybe street fighting is a bit extreme, but how about a little old-fashioned fan protest? I know it will never happen, because the Habs have the ultimate captive audience. When the team that can’t shoot straight makes their official debut Sept. 17 for a meaningless exhibition game against the New Jersey Devils at the Bell Centre, rest assured that every seat in the house will be sold and most fans will be happy to slurp down some of those over-priced beers while watching a bunch of no-name players.
And that’s too bad because the people running this once-great organization still don’t realize just how angry so many fans are out in the real world, far from the executive suites at the Bell Centre. You, the fans, need to show the suits that you’re mad as hell and won’t take it anymore.
