When it comes to placing betting odds regarding the NHL, it turns out trying to figure out all those odds are way over my head.
But you have to admit, the odds-makers are very good at what they do.
The Stanley Cup odds are interesting but today I am looking at the odds for the division titles.
With not even half the season complete, some teams look like sure locks to win the division.
I can understand the Penguins, they do have a 14 point lead and I don't see the Pens collapsing or another team making a strong run for the Metropolitan Division.
In the Central, the Blackhawks have a 5 point lead on the Blues but on other team will compete for the top spot.
The Pacific is a three team race. The Ducks have a 1 point lead over the Kings with the Sharks 5 points behind.
In the Atlantic, Boston maintains a 3 point lead over the Lightning and Canadiens while Detroit is 7 points behind. I don't think the Wings will be in the division hunt thus making it another three team race, with Boston the favorite.
So the expert odds-makers know what they are doing and will probably be more right than wrong when the regular season does end.
I do find it interesting the Pittsburgh Penguins appear to be the favorite for the Stanley Cup, even with the defending champs, the Chicao Blackhawks enjoying a season without a cup hangover.
