from Ben Kuzma of the Vancouver Province,
- There was a delay in opening the locker-room door after the stinging shutout loss and the body language of Willie Desjardins when he finally addressed the media said it all. He wasn’t happy and he should’t have been. The Canucks had only one two-goal and one three-goal loss this season. Monday was the worst of the season in so many ways.
“They (Ducks) let one slip away against Chicago and you knew they would pay hard,” he started. “Saying that, it’s a game we’ve got to be ready for and play hard in as well. For whatever reason, we just didn’t have our best. I don’t think our first periods have been great and we talked about that before the game.”
- Welcome to the NHL. Jake Virtanen was felled by a Ryan Getzlaf cross check halfway through the first frame and called it a night, but the good news is that the injury to the rookie winger may not be as bad as feared and there’s no fracture.
“I don’t expect he’ll be in tomorrow (Tuesday) and I don’t know how long he’ll be out, but it’s not serious,” said Desjardins.
