The Avalanche’s 2016-17 home schedule ended Thursday, and unsurprisingly given the toxic nature of the season, Colorado posted its worst home record ever in its 21 seasons in Denver.

Colorado’s 4-3 loss to Minnesota left the Avalanche with a 13-26-2 record for 28 points at home. The previous low in a full, non-lockout season was in 2010-11, when Colorado was 16-21-4, for 36 points.

Worse, the Avs loss meant will post the worst overall single-season record in the NHL since the Atlanta Thrashers went 14-57-7-4 for 39 points in 1999-2000. (The last two digits are for ties and overtime losses in the pre-shootout era. Games still could end in ties, but if either team scored in the five-minute overtime, it got a second point.)

The Thrashers, who went 9-26-3-3 for 24 points at home, had a pretty good excuse for that rotten record. They were an expansion franchise.
